“Is the gratitude that flows out of your life as abounding as the grace that has flowed into your life?”

A solid book on gratitude, especially for this time of year.

Side Notes
• The formatting was visually clunky, way too many pull quotes & mixing fonts/italics/bolding etc.
• Some great quotes, challenges, and encouragements about gratitude and your daily life.
• Good length (about 160 pages without the devotional challenge).
• Overall, encouraging and challenged me to really take gratitude seriously as part of my daily life.

I read One Thousand Gifts as well and enjoyed that more. My preference is “stream of conscious” narration as opposed to reading about how others are able to be thankful in their circumstances. I’m personally more impacted by going with someone on their gratitude journey.

I didn’t like the word “whine” being used so often in the book. I feel it invalidates one’s feelings. It is ok to be disappointed in the plan God has! His plan is best, and part of living faithfully means being disappointed but still trusting He loves us, He is a good God, and He is doing a wonderful thing.

Also, my interpretation of the tone expressed by the author is if we feel unwell then we are not being grateful. I agree with many of the points made in the book but I think there is a lack of space created for being grateful AND feeling down.

I finished reading this book for the second time, 3 years to the day from the first time that I read it. Wow!

Wow, this book was exactly what I needed! Gratitude honestly has not been something I think much about, and that needs to change! I’m looking forward to eventually completing her 30 day challenge!

This book spoke directly to the heart of what the Lord is teaching me in this season of life. I am realizing more and more how the sin of ingratitude breeds so many other sins like negativity, self-absorption, and despair in my heart.

Since I’ve begun a journey of intentional thankfulness a couple months ago, I am seeing the Lord work in my heart in how I respond to people, trials, and everyday circumstances of life. How I pray that He continues shaping my heart until my default attitude is always thankfulness.

I’m grateful to writers like Nancy who clearly present the truth of what Scripture says and what it looks like to live a life of gratefulness.

Encourages thanksgiving to be a natural reflex in all circumstances, making gratitude a lifestyle, giving thanks before something happens. “Trust God even though with experience you don’t understand why” I liked the point made about gratitude is preparing us for Heaven because we will be thanking God constantly while we are there-this is a dress rehearsal to prepare for actual performance
