Interesting more than anything else. These types of books typically get published as a way to raise funds for the individuals campaign efforts. Still, the topic is one worth discussing and the historical parameters revolving around the state of Texas and its fight for voting rights kept me reading. I think O'Rourke is bonkers politically speaking, but I do enjoy reading people outside of my circle from time to time.

While this is more of a history lesson than a love letter to voting, all of the stories underscored the importance of continuing to defend, protect, and expand the right to vote. Definitely enjoyed listening to Beto read it, in his usually passionate tones.

This focused on the history of voting rights in Texas, the state that is the hardest in the country to cast a vote. I was drawn to it because I followed Beto O’Rourke’s campaign. I learned a lot I’ve never learned about Texas history. While I don’t agree with O’Rourke on every issue, I did appreciate the way he put together the fight for voting rights, his political career, and the stories of the many Texans he has met in his years both running for and in office.

A quick look at the history of voting suppression, through the lens of Texas specifically. I found this book to be very informative and inspiring. Beto is invested and involved and I’m very glad he is. I wish this was longer and I wish there was more modern information, but maybe that book will come.

A simple memoir of Beto’s campaign history and stories heard along the way… some inspirational quotes from LBJ that tie well into his push for voting rights. This book taught me aspects of history unknown to me, so for that I appreciate it and note it as a book well read.
