Reread, but it's my first time listening to the audiobooks. Andy Serkis’ narration is perfect, especially if you’re someone who (like me) was introduced to the LOTR as a kid via the films. He uses many of the same accents as the cast and is a gifted narrator.

The LOTR is the quintessential fantasy series. I will never tire of it, and these audiobooks are a lovely way to revisit them.

great re-read, fun to see the differences between the movie. enjoyed it more than I remember, much less of a slog than I remember.

It's Tolkien, I'm in love, there's little more I can say other than I'm going to adore it! The Fellowship is my least favourite of the main Lord of the Rings trilogy, however, every time I reread this series it feels like home and I fall a little bit more in love.

I would highly recommend picking up the Alan Lee illustrated editions as they add a little bit more magic to the series!

We all know how I feel about Lord of the Rings at this point... There's not much point trying to leave a review, I'd just gush about how brilliant FotR is for far too long!

However, my annotation reread has been an absolute triumph! I have picked up on so many things I've missed before and I feel like I have a much stronger understanding of what Tolkien was doing with LotR. I've gained a greater appreciation for his world building and thematic work throughout this book alone - and most surprisingly of all, a new love for the songs he wove throughout the text to deepen the history and emotional weight of the world! It's astounding how much intricate detailing Tolkien put into his series that missed in my previous 8 reads (I think) and have only picked up on this time around!
