The Fix (Carolina Connections) by Sylvie Stewart is the author’s debut romance novel that I gave 4 out of 5 stars. This was such a “lol” novel, very witty and humorous for a romance-it was a great change of pace from all the dramatic romance novels! Thank God I was reading alone, because I kept giggling aloud throughout the book. This book is written in first person alternating POVs by the two main characters: Laney and Nate.

Laney has never taken the easy paths in life, and has a humorous often sarcastic approach to everything. She is 25 years old, a single mother, and making it work on her own. She doesn’t need a man in her life-well except for her goofy fun-loving brother, Gavin. He helps out with her adorable little boy, Rocco. It’s the least he can do considering he’s mooching off her, living with his sister with zero initiative to find a job. She got pregnant while still in college, successfully graduated, landed a job, and moved out from parent’s house. She is feisty and determined to succeed in life unlike her carefree brother. Gavin, however, finally gets a job working construction with more benefits than just pay. His boss, Nate, is gorgeous. A chance encounter between Laney and Nate leads to instant sparks! Chemistry aside, they have differing views on the new construction taking place in Laney’s neighborhood. Unable to deny their chemistry they begin to spend time together. Family is everything to Nate, and he adores her little boy. But Laney doesn’t want to depend on anyone, and isn’t sure she believes in true love. Will she take a risk on love with Nate?

This was such a great easy read. Laney is super genuine, and self-depreciating. She is hilarious, and I found myself laughing quite a bit while reading. Such witty banter, and well developed characters. Can’t wait to read more in the Carolina Connections world!

The Fix: A Carolina Connection Novel, Book one By Sylvie Stewart

This is Sylvie Stewart’s very first debut novel. I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end. Actually, I'm looking forward to reading the second book in this series

Carolina Collection Series can be read as standalones. I enjoy reading series in their proper order. But you can do as you wish!

What I absolutely love and adore about this, is book is the great humor. It had me literally laughing out loud!! We all know being a parent is tough. But being a single parent , at times… is even more challenging. But Sylvie Stewart brought such an amazing humor aspect to this story. Especially with everyday life and parenting issues with such brilliance! I love it!!

This is a wonderful book about family, life and love. It has real life issues and problems in it. The characters are witty, funny and even a little crude. I couldn't put it down , once I started reading it.

Laney ( Elaine) Monroe isn't particularly happy with her life. She didn't expect at 25 years old, being a single parent,Along with a boring job was in the future. But life ...sometimes, throws you a huge curve ball.

Nate Murphy has recently moved back to his hometown. To help out with his Dad's construction company. He is thrown for a loop when Lanie comes into the picture.

Together… can they make it work? Will Laney get freaked out and run?? Can Nate deal with her being a single parent?

You seriously have to read this book!! You will NOT disappointed in any way whatsoever!!

Sylvie Stewart's debut novel is phenomenal in every way. She writes beautifully! The characters are hilarious! It makes me wish they're real people and my friends!! She has always had a love for books! She Iives in North Carolina with her husband and their eight year old twins.
I can't not wait to read what happens in the second book. But if I had to guess.. it won't be the last we hear of Laney and Nate! Wonderful job!!

Wow I didn't realize this was Sylvie Stewart's debut book...it's pretty well written! Kudos to Ms. Stewart. I really enjoyed Laney's quirky, snarky, spunky character, she was funny! Nate was a contractor so of course he was hot and sexy!! They almost have an insta-love connection in this fast paced and easy, sweet read. The story is light and fun but there's still plenty of sexy time! I'm looking forward to reading more from this author. Told from dual POVs with a delightfully sweet ending. I received, read and voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Its not even funny how many books I read three pages of and then flit to something else. My campaign to finish books in my TBR pile is going well if you don't consider the fact that every time I finish a book in a series, I add 2-20 more books to the pile. But that is next summer's problem!

Laney is a single mom living with her irresponsible younger brother and cute 5 year old son. When Gavin's new boss, Nate, sees that her house needs some repairs he offers to help out around the house. As Nate and Laney realize they are falling for each other, their friends and family are bound and determined to help them become a couple. Cute kid! Great cast of characters! Little too much cussing, but I loved the end! Happy Reading!

I really enjoyed this book! It's fun and sweet and the characters are pretty great. Laney and her son Rocco are such a great team. As they adjust to living in a new house with her brother, Gavin, Laney worries about her parenting skills. It was so genuinely written and believable. The relationship between Gavin and Laney is rather tense and stilted - and I kinda love it. Sibling relationships can be so complicated and everyone's is so different, but I love the way Sylvie Stewart writes these two (and the other pair of siblings). We quickly learn that Gavin is flakey and mooching of his parents for the last few years. But he gets a job working construction soon after the story begins.
Enter Nate. Ahhhh, Nate. He has just moved back to his hometown to temporarily take over the running of the family construction business while his dad is recovering from a heart attack. Nate is funny and clearly loves his family very much - he and his sister and hilariously cruel to one another and his parents are perfectly weird.
Nate and Laney meet in less than ideal circumstances and are not exactly instant friends. Watching their relationship change and grow was great. Any Rocco interaction practically make the whole book worth reading. I liked all the primary charters and the character development was way more than I could have expected in a fairly short book.

Overall, the story was a quick read that is completely worth the time. It makes you laugh out loud in several spots and in many more smiling like a loon at your kindle.

The Fix by Sylvie Stewart is the first book in the Caroline Connections series. This is a fun, romantic novel about Laney Monroe and Nate Murphy. Laney is a 25-year-old single mom trying to balance work, being a mom, and helping her immature brother. Nate has moved back to town to help at his family’s construction business. The two meet when her brother finally decides to go out and get a job. Little does Laney know that her brother getting a job would be such a great decision for her love life as well.
Laney has so much going on in her life except a love life. She is relatable on many levels. She is trying to do the best with what life has given her and be a good mom at the same time. Her brother lives with her, since her parents moved out of town. He’s finally got her hints to go out and get a job. In her neighborhood, there is new construction and come to find out it is being built by her brother’s new employer. What will happen when life brings Nate and Laney together?
This is a fun, sexy novel with some great characters. The topics of how to balance family, work, and love is a such a relatable, realistic theme. This is a hard balance to find and sometimes opportunities arise when we least expect them. I enjoyed that the characters had to make decisions that were real and can have a long-term effect on themselves and others in their lives. I am looking forward to read the second novel by the author

The Fix by Sylvie Stewart

5 stars!

The Fix is the first book in the Carolina Connections series by Sylvie Stewart. This is the author’s debut novel and what a debut it is! I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. I did read the second book in this series prior to this one but I knew as soon as I finished it that I needed to go back and read book 1 - I knew I was in for a fantastic read! The author has a fantastic writing style and her storylines are great. She combines humour with real life problems along with a lot of romantic moments! There were so many laugh out loud moments in this story, many provided by Laney and her best friend Fiona. One of the things that I loved about this book was how down to earth it was including the characters in it. They were just everyday people dealing with normal, real-life issues. It was such an easy book to read with a great pace.
The story is about Laney and Nate. Laney’s life hasn’t been easy; she found herself at 25, a single mom, stuck in a boring job and living with her bother who just doesn’t want to do anything! Finally her brother steps up and finds a job except Laney doesn’t realise just what might happen as a result of his new employment! Nate has returned home to take over the family business after a family emergency. When visiting a new site he doesn’t expect to be confronted by the local residents, one of which is extremely feisty and also in his eyes the most beautiful woman he has ever seen!
I loved Laney – one of the best female characters I have read about this year I think! She was taking what life had given her and was determined to make the most out of it! She provided some pretty funny moments and I loved the relationship she had with her son Rocco! He also was hilarious! I could picture some of the things that happened in that household!
Nate was just; well he was just hands down sexy! Not only did he sound sexy from the way he was described in the book but also the things that he did made him particularly swoon-worthy in my opinion! He was patient with Laney but also had that slight sexy alpha dominant male thing going on! I loved the relationship he formed with Rocco and that understood how important this was if he wanted to be a part of Laney’s life.
I really did love this story it had everything I like in a book, humour, romance and a very sexy male lead!! I can’t wait to see what this author has in store for us next because the two books that I have read by her so far have been excellent!!
If you are looking for a nice easy read, a story with lovely, relatable characters and a book full of humour and romance then I definitely recommend The Fix! You won’t be disappointed!

The Fix:A Carolina Connections Novel by Sylvia Stewart Rated 4 stars

Laney was an enjoyable character to read. She has great values and a funny friend. Her conversations with Fiona were hilarious and also heartwarming. Fiona is the kind of friend to have she helps and expects nothing in return and she is always there for Laney. I also enjoyed the relationship between Laney and her brother, Gavin. I have to say I don't know many brothers who would step up and help her take care of Rocco the way he did. It was downright impressive! Even though he was a freeloader until he got the construction job I feel he was worth having in Laneys house. The fighting and bickering they do reminded me of my childhood and you could see the love they had for each other even though they were fighting. The way that Rocco imitates Gavin is so cute! Even though Gavin is not perfect he seems perfect to Rocco. Speaking of Rocco, he is Laneys 5 year old son, he brought a lot to Laney and Nate's story and also got his own little side story.

Nate wasn't interested in looking for a girlfriend but once he saw Laney and all her spitfire coming at him to protect her friend, he knew he wanted to see more of her and her smart mouth. Now getting Laney to see him let alone date him was another matter. She only saw him as Gavin's boss so he pulled out all the stops and started working on her house that way he could get to spend time with her….sneaky right?

Nate and Laneys story wasn't all sweetness which was good because it made it seem more real. One example was how their personal time was cut short or was pretty much nil because of Rocco. Any single parent could identify with that happening. It was also interesting on Nate and Rocco's relationship. Kids are tricky to get a read on any day and It was interesting watching Nate try to figure out Rocco.
Good solid story and I am looking forward to more in the series!
