Pretty Darn Good
I think this was the oldest Nora Roberts book I have read. It was refreshing and nostalgic and a blast from the past. I liked Cilla and Boyd and their story. I think I’m going to enjoy the Night Tales series.

Short and sweet. A good read if you don't want to start a full relationship with a series or need a break from them!

Read that it would be similar to the in death series....but no. Normal romance where the girl gets saved and kept safe by the guy. Yawn.

Filled with romance, suspence and keeps you on the edge to find out what gonna happen. Great read.

It's kind of a hit or miss with Nora's older stuff if I'm going to like the couple or not. Mostly because things have changed so much in how people react to each other and a lot of what they joke/talk about is a bit cringey thirty years after it was written.
Outside of that, though, I loved Boyd's consideration with Cilla's past experience with men. I liked that when he could see she needed it, he was patient and kind and careful. I wish we had gotten more of the sister relationship, but as this series continues with Deborah, I can only assume we'll get some more as we go.
Overall, an easy read, and definitely not a bad one. One more book closer to devouring everything Nora Roberts has ever written.

"We need rebels, just as we need heroes. It would be a dull, sad world without them."

I loooved Deborah and Gage's dynamic so much. I feel like the first book of these was a sit-down-and-enjoy book, which is great, but this one? So good. The plot? The characters? There was so much more feeling and drama to it. Gage is my favorite kind of troubled love interest, morally gray, fantastical. I feel like fantasy guys just have a right to be grumpy and rude whereas regular old guys are just annoying about it.
I loved the vigilante super-hero vibe I got from this. I've always been a sucker for spider-man, so the paranormal aspect of his powers really brought that to life for me. This has so much more of a base in it's plot and i thoroughly enjoyed it.
I'm just such a big fan of grumpy boys being a bit less grumpy when they're in love, honestly.

Cilla O'Roake loves her job as a late night radio DJ until a man begins to call in and threaten her on air. She wants to dismiss the man as just a crank caller but when things begin to escalate her station manager calls in the police. Detective Boyd Fletcher and his partner Althea Grayson are called in to do the initial investigation but things become more serious as the man continues to call and harass Cilla, even going so far as to leaving threatening messages at Cilla’s home. At first Cilla doesn’t take the caller seriously but when the caller starts threatening her home she is more willing to work with detectives so she can keep her younger sister, Deborah safe. The loss of her parents and raising Deborah has left Cilla very closed off to any personal relationship, but especially with a cop. Boyd is attractive and very attracted to Cilla. He takes her harassment case and her safety very seriously. Boyd is consistent in his pursuit of Cilla, showing her that he is a man she can rely on and let behind her walls. This story is all about trust and vulnerability in relationships.
