I’m not big on therapy type self help books… and there really is nothing in here that you probably haven’t heard from a friend after a venting session before. However, I really appreciate the simple way some of these truths are all laid out in. It’s a super accessible format with a lot of positive reminders for various areas of stress.

There's some really useful techniques and pause-worthy questions raised in here. I got a lot out of the last chapter and not a lot out of 4-5 chapters in the middle, but I think that's common. The book is really just condensed lessons/common themes from therapy across different issues in life, so it makes sense that it wouldn't ALL be applicable to me. It's a good book, I can see that if you'd never done therapy/therapy was inaccessible to you, this would be mind-blowing. I'm glad it exists, but it's not a psychological deep dive into the brain like I was hoping for.

this was good but i did know a lot of it already so maybe the rating is subjective. it feels weird to be rating self-help anyway. i thought the author was super clear and concise and helpful. it took me ages to get through though.
