At first I wasn't all that into this series, but it is definitely growing on me. I liked this book the best out of them so far.

Reviewing each of these books individually is something I am just not capable of doing. Each book intertwines with the other so completely that it is nearly impossible to separate them. The relationships are complicated and nothing is black and white.

It seems to me that after the first 4 or so books, the author developed a love of BDSM. The series takes a twist from Urban Fantasy and ends up in the Erotic Fantasy. At first, the story doesn’t suffer and the erotic moments are a part of the story rather than consuming the entire plot. That is at first though….

After about book 11 or 12, the erotic becomes the sole focus. Sure, other stuff is going on, but it is all pushed to the back burner. There are so many relationships that is gets hard to be invested in each one of them.

I had to just ignore the parts that described anyone’s clothing, it was that bad. Sure, the series started a long time ago, but even in the more recent books, there are shoulder pads… yeah, should pads. Ugh! Plus, all of the men have long hair. ALL of them!!

All of the supernatural beings stick pretty close the versions told throughout history. The vampires can’t be in the sun, the werewolves have a short temper and get protective, the demons are bad… no need to reinvent the wheel here people.

I have thoroughly been enjoying this series and have found that the audiobooks are a great way to consume them. This installment started including the smallest amount of spice and I love the back and forth with Anita and Jean-Claude. I will definitely be continuing this series.

This book counts for Popsugar 2023 for a book with a love triangle and for the magical readathon alchemy side quest for a book with night time depicted on the cover.

continuation of Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series. The beginning of the love triangle that starts off all the romantic drama and drive of the later books in this series. That love triangle does start out rough in this book. We also get a introduced to Jason and long standing side character. The mystery element of the week while action pack is a little ridiculious. Missing shifters, however there three killers. Then add Edwards random and sparse apperance. And the witch mystery is left slightly open-ended for no reason. A fun read, but carried by relationship drama that was fustrating at times.

I've re-read through the series several times and I think I dislike Richard more and more each time.

Book 4 of the Anita Blake series. We see that Anita and Richard are learning to be in a relationship with one another and what that means for them both. Richard is in a fight to win succession of the werewolf pack that he is a part of. Yes, he's a werewolf. Anita gets brought in by Richard's opposed, him having wanted to meet her and demands her assistance with a case of eight missing shifters. In unrelated news, Richard asks Anita to marry him, way too early in their relationship in my opinion. And not so surprisingly, Anita begins to have her doubts as she discovers more of Richard's shifter side. She confronts Jean Claude about her engagement to Richard and he is less than happy, wanting his chance to woo her as well. The ending has a surprise double whammy when it comes to the various missing shifters.

Ok Anita confuses me, she likes Richard but he isn’t human enough for her. She tolerates Jean-Claude but she is highly attracted to him. Again he isn’t human.

She won’t have sex with any of them before marriage but she will date them both.
This chick needs to get her head on straight.

The crazy weird disappearances and the crime scenes hot damn. Also, I am used to the sound effects now and they actually made me jump when the guns go off. Haha, I even had to laugh at myself for that one.

Again I am enjoying the narration.
