I actually enjoyed this book much more than I thought I would. Dan Harris's account of how he turned his life around and discovered the benefits of meditation was both entertaining and inspiring. I liked Harris's sense of humour, and in spite of myself, found him even likeable (he's a TV anchor, which biases me against him for no reason!). In short, the book combined two topics I enjoy very much: a spiritual practice (meditation/mindfulness) and a journey of personal growth. Highly recommended!

I really enjoyed this book. As someone who's a highly functioning , anxiety laden being, I relate fully to Harris's life and perspective. Reading this made it feel that meditation is much more approachable than I set it up to be.

I am a long time fan of Dan Harris from his work at ABC News, and most especially from his sarcastic, wry persona on weekend GMA. For that alone, spending several hours with him was a treat. But this is so much more. Dan's struggles with anxiety, worry, overthinking, ambition, and managing that obnoxious and critical voice in his head mirror my own. 10% Happier recounts Harris' journey to manage those through the use of Buddhist techniques is fascinating and practical. I have learned some of these same behaviors on my own, simply as a coping strategy, but through this book, I've learned I can do more. Harris' access to some of the experts and scientists, combined with his stellar reportage, provide a book that is nuanced, well researched, and well written. It is also chock full of practical advice. I would -- and have -- recommend it to many of my friends and family. It's a great read.

NOTE: I listened to this on audio

If this judgmental asshole can learn to meditate and get something out of it, anyone can.

Not a big memoir reader, but I have an interest in mindfulness, meditation, Buddhism, and so forth. That made this man’s personal journey juxtaposed with his work as an investigative journalist interesting. Recommend if you’re interested in such things.
