This is SUPER well-written, a sci-fi zombie story set in space where a rescue crew is sent to investigate a drill site that has sent a distress call. This site is located two MONTHS away by hyper-space, and they’re the closest crew, so you get a real sense of the isolation. It’s set on a barren, violent-weather-tortured rock and as soon as the crew gets there they can tell something is Not. Right.

The pacing is amazing, both the sense of suspense and “what the heck is going on here?” as the crew finds clues and throws out hypothesis, and then once things “come alive” and the chaos picks up. Totally creepy and awesome! And oh the twists. Oh the awesome science and cool plotting that has gone into it, and the nifty way the character backgrounds intersect. This was so great and I can’t wait for the sequel!

Please excuse typos/name misspellings. Entered on screen reader.

My heart was racing the entire time! If you are a fan of fast-paced sci-fi horror, this book is definitely for you. The world the author created was reminiscent of the Alien universe, which I love! Others, I'm sure, can see this as generic, but as I am a fan of the Alien universe, I don't mind the familiarity one bit.

When I first started this book, I didn't think I would like it because Sci-Fi isn't really my thing. I chose it to fit a prompt for my clubs April challenge. But once I started getting into it, I realized it's a lot like the movie Prometheus, and I love that movie. I really enjoyed this book, and am serious to read the 2nd in the duology.

So genuinely, this book popped by sci-fi virginity and ohh! how did I take so long to get into this genre? Ok listen, I love sci-fi in real life. It courses through my mind and gets me so excited.

This book got me excited. This book had me outside, in my living room, bundled up in a chair reading and angry at some of these characters, like absolute clear I cannot remember when last I was out loud quarreling with people.

In a book.

Everything was unraveling and it was oh so good! I held my breath so many times, I jumped so many times, and I was like so way people coming out of this very much NOT alive.

Spoiler Dylan ! DYLAN! She had me screaming in my mind, like what the fuck you doing? You cannot be so desperate to save your father that you want to fuck with everyone. Then she did. She totally lived up to my expectation of her.

Also, I still felt like the contagion wasn't really explained proper. Like microscopically, and I think this will be done a little more in depth in the next book, because I mean, who really had the time to look into a microscope through all this? I really did not expect those people to come back to life. REALLY NOT.

For my first, it was so good, I really loved it. I'm glad I listened to the whispers to read this, like now..

This is honest to goodness one of my favorite reads not only of the year but ever. After coming off a sci-fi high from Nyxia Unleashed I was looking for something the quench my sci-fi loving heart! This book did that. I am throughout obsessed with not only the writing style and characters but the plot of this book literally had me guessing until the last second. I highly recommend this book to any sci-fi loving reader or anyone looking to try sci-fi out for the first time.

Contagion is thrilling and heart pounding! It's a creepy, infection story set in the far reaches of space. This one will grip you until the end and leave you wanting more!

When I heard the news about Erin's new book being a Science Fiction story, I knew I had to read it ASAP! I fell in love with her writing in Vengeance Road and Retribution Rails, and this one was no different. I was captivated from page one and read it from start to finish in one sitting.

The writing was fantastic. There was never a moment where I didn't feel like I was right beside the characters. I got thrills, chills and heart pounding enjoyment. I could see everything happening clearly as if I were watching a movie.

As far as the plot was concerned, I had expected a little more originality. The entire time I was reading I kept thinking about movies like Alien, Ghosts of Mars, and Event Horizon. Though the story was exciting and captivating (and I loved all those movies), there were only a few moments that felt fresh and unique.

I loved the character development, though. Erin has a great way of helping the reader get to know the characters in the moment, as the story is happening, without throwing things at you all at once. With this story being told from several different perspectives, I got to know the different characters of the Odyssey without feeling like my head was spinning, and I was rooting for all of them to make it out alive!

Was Contagion worth the read? Heck yes it was! It was well written, creepy, and had a killer cliff hanger ending! I loved the science behind the contagion, the adventure through space, and the interesting characters, and, even though the plot wasn't always unpredictable, I thoroughly enjoyed the story.
