I'll never get these 16 hours of my life back. This has gotta be one of the worst books I have ever had the displeasure of reading. The terrible accents & inflection by the narrators of the audiobook made it 100 times worse. I am so glad to have the option of 0 stars over here on storygraph because giving 1 star on Goodreads felt way too generous. The characters were not even a little bit likeable, the writing was awful, there was no flow and nothing made sense.

I kept hoping it would get better, to no avail. Would not recommend.

I liked this book up until about chapter 60 something. I thought there was a very obvious place the author could have wrapped it up and ended the book on a good note, but she chose to add another 20 something chapters of pure smut with little plot after that and it felt pointless. Up until then, there was a plot and some character development but then it fell apart. If you are looking for a believable story that makes sense in the real world, this isn’t it. But if you are looking for pure smut with some hot male characters who are in to a variety of things, this is your book.

This was my introduction into dark romance so I certainly dove in head first. Firstly, Roxy is a badass. With a serious case of Stockholm Syndrome and a laundry list of unresolved trauma and abandonment issues but a badass, nonetheless. Some of the Vipers were oddly quite likable. Kenzo was my favorite one. Ryder was the daddy of the group, Garrett was the sweetheart in dyer need of therapy and meds and Deisel was the most horrific character I’ve ever come across. I enjoyed the plot for the first 350 pages or so and then it just seemed to get very repetitive and drag on. Definitely not a book I would recommend to just anyone. But if you’re into body horror and sexual violence type smut then this book is a gold mine.

I was skeptical about this novel. It’s the first dark romance book I’ve read. There was action; there were multiple sex scenes; hell, there were some emotional moments that plucked my heartstrings lightly.

But, this book is all over the place. The pacing wasn't executed well. The 4 criminals (Diesel, Ryder, Kenzo, and Garett) felt very stereotypical. And, the main character was someone I couldn't resonate with.

I wish the author built the chemistry between the characters. It felt like she hated them in one chapter & liked them the next.

The erotic scenes were nice. Well, some of them. Others felt outlandish or nonsensical.

I liked the plot idea, but I disliked the execution.
