This added a lot of context to this very toxic family and turdface’s upbringing.. but it left me just sad for so many of the victims of the toxicity in this family.

I have to admit, the first part of the book was sloooooooow as a turtle. It does get better though!
There are quite a lot of date jumps, which kind of throws you off the timeframe and a bit hard to follow through the events chain. Not to mention the oh so many, many characters have been introduced all too soon in the book.
The book is written mainly about his father and rest of the family. Would have preferred this to have a lot more information on Donald Trump himself. Regardless, a lot has been learned about the family and how they treat each other. Which is quite an eyeopener. Goes to show how media bends a lot of truths.

Ikke super godt oversat og med mange slåfejl og andre tekst fejl, men det er ikke Marys fejl (og da slet ikke Donalds)

This wisp of a book is purely capitalizing on opportunity. There's nothing there except the few sound bites about the family's cheap regifting. We've all known about the lack of empathy and Fred for years.

One of the most fascinating and insightful books I've ever read with an in-depth dive into the aberrations of the Trump family and the beliefs that have been ingrained and shaped Donald Trump to this day, providing a thorough explanation into his psychology and atypical behavior patterns associated with it. The writing style used by Mary Trump is very digestible and each sentence conveys a breadth of emotion and reminiscence which makes for an engaging text.

Too Much and Never Enough by Mary Trump
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Better late than never; this was a book that I grabbed a local library bag sale a few months ago and decided to read during #nonfictionnovember & I’m just finally getting around to reviewing it!

The author of this book is the niece of our former President. Growing up in this family, and now as a Psychiatrist, she had a lot to tell.

Although some of the information wasn’t necessarily “new” information — there was a great bit that I hadn’t known (perhaps through my own ignorance) and quite a bit that surprised me!

I don’t really have much else to say about this one except that you should definitely give it a read if you’ve ever tried to understand why Donald was the way he was. It certainly hasn’t made me sympathize with him - or even empathize with him - but I understand now that he is a product of what he was groomed for and because he never suffered consequences early on, we’re now left with..well.

A little dull, though it gives some interesting insight into his character. Sarah Cooper said “I have a secret fantasy that Mary Trump is actually Donald Trump just trying to stir up more drama for himself”

I didn't realize how much young Donald went through. As a psychology student it really allowed me to see how many event to happen for the effect to be so prominent now.

I love reading about politics and I especially love reading about American Politics, which, when I come from the UK, could be considered a bit odd. Many of my friends often ask why I read so much about American politics when we have more than enough to keep us entertained here in the UK? And it's true there is plenty to keep me entertained about UK politics; probably too much. If I'm honest part of the reason is as much to do with schadenfreude as anything else. It's the realisation that though we have our own idiot PM he's never going to be as bad as the idiot in chief the states have (it is a close run thing I know).

Trump (DJT) has been called many things, narcissist, illogical, petty, ignorant, arrogant, selfish and mentally ill and he is many, if not most of these things. To call him mentally ill though is possibly the least helpful because, in some small way, it absolves him of the responsibility for his behaviour

In this book, Mary Trump, (one of DJTs nieces) a psychologists looks at the role the Trump family and in particular the Trump patriarch, Fred Trump, had to play in the formation of DJT's personality and how this plays out in the world today.

The book is an easy read though suffers in that it does jump around a wee bit and is in places somewhat repetitive. In an 600 page book this wouldn't be too much of a problem but in a 200 page book is more of an issue.

Overall an interesting book but probably doesn't really paint a different picture from any we've seen before.
