I enjoyed the world expansion and then the twist at the end as I did not expect what Nik does and who Feythe was…
BUT
Why wasn’t there much action on the spying and assassinating ??!?
The relationships just baffled me too. The characters couldn’t really decide on who they were romantically interested in and it all got very convoluted because the separate POV did not actually help.
Hoping there’s some character growth in the next book and less inconsequential page fillers.

I am so happy that I started reading this series!
The tension in this book was amazing! Not what I was expecting but still amazing! I also loved the action scenes and it was a lot more high stake than the first book.
It was amazing to learn about new characters and to learn more about the characters from the first book. I can't wait to find out what will happen next!

Not unenjoyable but a lot of sloppy lapses in the second book. As if the author forgot what they had said in the first book, or figured it didn’t serve her vision anymore so changed it without thought of story continuity.
Also the whole series seems to loosely rip off of TOG.
I really want to say it’s good, but the story and writing are just all over the place.
It’s still a fun read, but don’t expect anything groundbreaking.

Fun story to listen to. It does have a lot of similarities to TOG. The magic categories are interesting and the found family foundation is very well made. The world is built really well and I love the multi POV. The narrator is very good and makes it easy to distinguish who's talking.

In this second installment Faythe continues in her journey of recklessness, self discovery and let's not forget the self deprecation . I swear this girl,at every turn, is either finding trouble or legit going out and looking for it. Her insecurities were LOUD and I did feel quite sorry for her because same girl same but after a while, and the many MANY "I don't deserve them/this" scenes, she started getting really whiny which naturally grated my nerves. She's either related to or besties with Aelin because home girl was pulling some real Aelin shit in this one. It was quite upsetting that no matter how much or how many times her friends showed her support, showed her they loved her and that she could lean on them and would always be there for her no matter the dangerous situation, ma'am found it necessary after all that to do everything on her own, because who needs help...

I was intimidated by the length of this audiobook, but gods damn it it was SO GOOD. I think I'm obsessed with Faythe and Reylan now. Its time for book 3
