Beautiful written chalked full of lyricism and heart. The characters that Henry creates are so vibrant and fully realized. You get drawn into this Romeo and Juliet-esque love story coupled with an unexpected magical twist. Take some time to indulge your reading sensibilities and listen to June and Saul's love story.

I read Beach Read earlier this summer and found Emily Henry's writing to be memorable. So, of course, I had to see what else she has done. I picked this one up without reading the summary or any reviews, which I've been doing a lot lately. It's almost like a blind date with a book.
A Million Junes is unexpected and a perfect fall read. Ghosts, grief, and family history are wrapped in a modern Romeo and Juliet retelling. Jack, aka Junie, and Saul are the star-crossed lovers predestined to despise each other. With three previous generations worth of adversity to overcome, Junie and Saul find themselves drawn together and desperate to rid themselves of the hate and curse between them.
I enjoyed this magical retelling. Emily paints a beautiful picture and I was intrigued from the first page to the last.

I picked this up because I enjoy Emily Henry and Julia Whelan. However, I had pretty low expectations since it is YA. Wow did this book blow those expectations. This is a beautiful story about grief, shame, hate, and love. It did not shy a way from difficult topics. The main character, June, was difficult and complicated, but still incredibly easy to route for.

I loved this a lot. It was magical and emotional and I just loved it. I did think it was weird to have a relationship between a 20 year old and a kid still in high school (even though she was 18), so I docked a point.

Wow. Was expecting this? No, after reading book lovers and people we meet on vacation I wasn’t expecting this book. And it was beautiful. I loved book lovers, and people we meet on vacation was okay for me but this book might be her best I’ve read so far. I was so not expecting any of it and it’s such a sad and beautiful story. So much emotion pours out and how she tells the story and everything about it. I don’t like leave spoilers in reviews so I wont say anything about it other than it’s a great story.

Not a Rom Com. By any means. Ghosts and past generational trauma, and accepting change and healing family stuff - all themes within the book. Magical realism, and fate and destiny.
