this book had me stupidly attached to the characters. i do not cry reading books but this had me shedding tears at 3am in my bed over this old man who learned how to live his life again from his annoying new neighbors and a stray cat. literally what gives fredrik backman the right to do this to me i need to read all of his books right now he just gets the human condition

Fredrik Backman has become with this book one of my favorite authors of all time. Today I'd say he's my favorite. His talent shows in a very touching way with his ability to portray the character's emotions and convictions through their interactions and thoughts. It's hard to explain because many authors use the same artifice, but Backman has a way to turn a character extremely realistic, completely out of the paper, and many times I forgot I was reading fiction. It got me very profoundly, and I felt so many intense, intense, and just beautiful emotions. Ultimately, after reading both books from him, I genuinely felt like I've "unlocked" a different level of appreciation of my life. Simply incredible and absolutely amazing. I envy anyone reading this for the first time. I'm now off to exploring all titles from him, but also, I don't want to "use up" all of these treasures at once. I'll do my best to space out my Backman's books!

It is a beautiful book dipicting how life is fulll of surprises and how people are full of surprises. Fall in love, allow a few tears to shed, let it scare you, let Ove tell you how things should be done. I guess according to Ove, he'll hate I wrote this but will also tell me "You Are Not A Complete Idiot!". Awesome Pawsome Cherry Blossom rating!!!!
