This book was funny and fun. I liked the main character and her friends a lot. This book dragged on a little too long at times. Dayna accused everyone and their mom of this murder and she seemed really clueless about how tiplines work (you are supposed to give them tips not theories about why you think someone murdered someone else and you are definitely not supposed to do the investigating yourself). I would be interested in reading another book now that I know the characters.

waaaaaay too long, but at least there was only mild copaganda with no important role for a cop. but the characters are so stereotypical LA, that it was too on the nose and boring.

This book had so much promise, and as it's won numerous awards, I really thought I'd love this book. But no, it's slow pace, superficial characters, mediocre storyline, I just couldn't get into it. I gave it 100 pages to get my attention and bring together the murder and Dayna's amateur private eye skills.

Let's start with Dayna. She fumbles around in life, saying stupid things, doing stupid stuff, and acting like a bratty teenager. I don't know if these quirks were supposed to make her likable, but all it did was make me want to hit my head with a hammer. She'd scream out statements like "We are the police", when it's just her and her friend (neither of which have anything to do with law enforcement) and "I found the killer". OMG...really, really?

Her friend, Sienna, I'm not sure the why behind the need for this character. It seemed like all she did was shop, she never really moved the story forward or added anything to Dayna's story.

Emme, she was the only friend I did like. She was diligent, strong, and mature. A book starring Emme, I would read.

The story just lumbered along. Oh, the whole issue with the police tip line was beyond just painful to read.

I really wanted to love this book and had such high hopes. For me, the writing, characters, and storyline just didn't come together to create a mystery I could get into.

The heroine is a failed commercial actress with a group of SoCal/Hollywood friends who help her solve a crime to get the tip money to save her parents house and get her out of debt. It's drawn out, there's a lot of elements and potential suspects, but I was invested to find out who dun it. I enjoyed it enough to already have book 2 queued up.

I wanted to DNF so badly but I just kept going hoping it'd get better. I didn't!!!! It was just too long for no reason. Way to many suspects. The main character was very whiny and just all over the place.

The book was okay. Dayna was annoying. She was all over the place. Her calls to the tip line were funny. However, I do plan to read the next book since books in a series tend to get better as the progress.
