I didn't think I was going to enjoy this as much as I did! This book meant so much for me and the ending hit me so hard (mostly because I wasn't expecting it at all). I'm so happy I enjoyed Lost In the Neverwoods because now I can confidently say that Aiden Thomas is one of my favorite authors and I can't wait to read more of their books!

Also, this book left me with a huge need to watch Peter Pan again (it's one of my all time favorite movies) and I need more retellings!

I loved the anxiety rep and I felt so seen

It's been five years since Wendy and her brothers disappeared in the woods. Her brothers did not return when she did without any memories of the 6 months they were gone. But when the town's children start disappearing and a boy named Peter who Wendy thought wasn't real comes into town she starts to second guess everything. As more is revealed Wendy realizes that the only way to get answers about the missing kids and her own past is to go into the Never Woods.

This book wasn't as good as Cemetery Boys; I think it dragged a little in between finding Peter and getting to Wendy's memories being unlocked. I enjoyed the focus on the real origin of Peter Pan along with Disney's version of the story and I love Aiden Thomas but this was just okay for me. It could also be that Peter Pan is not a favorite. Still a good recommendation for someone who likes fairy tale retellings. (3.5 stars/5 stars)

So much potential wasted. It’s a good plot idea and I liked Peter and Wendy and their moments together were cute but it took a while for the plot to actually move. For most of the book they were just like “we need to get the kids back and stop the shadows, but we don’t know how”.

The writing also felt a bit childish at times and I know it’s based on a fairy tale but it’s meant to be a ya retelling. Also still not really sure how the shadow managed to free itself and wtf that had to do with Wendy. Like I get her being alive in Netherland would disrupt things but it didn’t really explain how?

The last quarter was defiantly the best part of the book.

Basically cozy Peter Pan fanfic, which is fun. Four stars because I would have liked to see some of the other characters fleshed out a bit more, and for the number of times I rolled my eyes when the shadow talked.

I love a retelling of Peter Pan but I was expecting it to be a bit gay. Loved it!

I went into this one completely blind- I loved Aiden Thomas's last book, and didn't concern myself with the blurb for this one, I just knew I wanted to read it regardless.

Turns out this was a beautifully dark Peter Pan retelling. A haunting exploration of grief and the darkness within us.
