I read this book in chunks which I think did a disservice to the story, and ultimately made it less enjoyable as a read for me. Most of the story takes place in France. I learned a lot about the occupation of France and the effect of the war on the more remote villages, which was bigger than expected. If I were to reread this I'd try to read it in a more compact timeline, with less distractions.

Synopsis blew my mind away. Historical fiction, WWII period, is my absolute favorite. I was looking forward for The Daughter’s Tale.

My mistake was that I concentrated on the title and waited Daughter’s Tale. There were two involved but none of them had narrated the story. Most of it was told through Amanda’s, the mother. I understand that it was heart wrecking and tear-dropping plot but it wasn’t alive. At least for me.

Thank you Negalley and Atria Books for The Daughter's Tale by Armando Lucas Correa ARC in return of my honest review.

The Daughter's Tale is a heart breaking story of a family torn apart by war, genocide, and persecution. This story is an echo of the stories of so many families during the Holocaust; families destroyed and unable to be brought back together. The sacrifices of Amanda Sternberg is the reason her daughters survived. A mother's love and sacrifice for her children during great tragedy and trauma is a feat of strength incomparable to the heroic acts in life.
My favorite historical fiction are the stories that remind us of the strength of humanity even in dark times. This is one such story. The determination of the girls' mother and the adoptive family to connect again to the oldest daughter, Viera, through every tragic event the family personally experienced, is awe-inspiring. The Daughter's Tale is a must read for any fan of historical fiction. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in WW2, the Holocaust, and the true stories of the families affected by this historical tragedy.

The Daughter's Tale by Armando Lucas Correa is about a family of four in Germany. They do not leave fast enough and quick decisions need to be made.

This was a good novel. I felt for the characters throughout the entire book, however I did lose interest for the last quarter until the final ending came. There were a few too many characters and I kept wanting to know more about some of them. The ending brought everything together perfectly. I wanted to know just a little more about Elise as she grew older, to create more of a connection between the two timelines.

The MS St. Louis was eerily done. It was already covered in great detail in The German Girl, and I appreciated that there was no need to do so again. It helped continue the mystery because some things are better left unsaid.

3.5/5. Thank you to Atria Books and Netgalley for the advanced reading copy.

After going to St. Louis for a nerdy science teachers conference I was able to finish this one on the plane. Set mostly during WW2 in occupied France, a mother and 2 daughters flee Germany after her husband is captured. She is able to send one daughter to her brother in Cuba. What follows is a harrowing account of a mother doing everything she can to save her other daughter. While an interesting read, it seemed to jump around and randomly change POV making it hard to follow. I would've liked more details to feel more connected to characters. Overall an ok read but not spectacular. Thanks to Netgalley for an opportunity to read!

The Daughter's Tale by Armando Lucas Correa is a hauntingly beautifully written historical fiction novel. The setting ranges from Germany, Cuba, New York City, to amongst other locales. The story takes place, for the most part, during World War II. I love it when I am reading a book and it whets my appetite to do some research and learn more about the time period in which the story took place, this is one of those books. Make sure to have tissue handy, you will deeply feel the emotion of the characters. Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for giving me this book in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book. It said on the cover that it was for readers who loved [b:The Tattooist of Auschwitz|38359036|The Tattooist of Auschwitz (The Tattooist of Auschwitz, #1)|Heather Morris|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1525962117l/38359036._SY75_.jpg|56940861], which is why I got it. But to be honest, I have never read that book. I switched between the audio and physical book for this one and enjoyed both of them. This was a beautiful story about family and making difficult choices during the war. I loved that this book was based on a true story. It was beautifully written and I recommend if you are looking for a WWII historical fiction.
