Norma (Gwen & Ben's sister) is a workaholic control freak that works at Pierce Industries.  She's unfulfilled and has a crush on Hudson Pierce who she's worked with for years.  He doesn't reciprocate and she's horrified and embarrassed.   Boyd is her capable, younger, foxy assistant and he approaches her and tells her what she needs and is capable of.  She's intrigued and has misgivings but she begins a journey with Boyd giving up control and learning that there's more to life than work.  Takes course over a two year period!

I'm a huge fan of the Fixed Series. I think I was one of the first members of the street team. I love these characters and they will forever live in my heart. I always thought Norma should get her story and I'm so glad that Laurelin got the chance to write it! Falling Under You is perfect for Norma. She's always in control. She lived through a horrible childhood, but made sure her sister and brother were always taken care of. She gets things done. She's in control. But, she can't find a man who satisfies her. She's always in charge and that's not fulfilling to her. She wants someone else to take control in the bedroom. She wants to submit to a lover and finally not be in charge. When her assistant, Boyd, shows interest and he's just the man to show her what a dominate man can do. And damn! Does Boyd show her. But, he's not going to let her get away from topping from the bottom. He's going to go slow and wait for her to finally give in and stop thinking. It may take a while, but it'll be worth it. The book covers years of their relationship. We get to see Norma and Boyd grow together. Norma opens up and realizes life is just not work. She's happy when she's not working now and that's a big step for her. Will she realize that she doesn't have to choose between Boyd the man and Boyd the assistant? Can she have it all? Norma is kick ass. Boyd is sexy and I love when he takes control. It's not about power, it's always about love.

He tastes familiar, like victory and mastery and promise, the way a newly acquired dividend looked like it would taste.

Norma and Boyd are enjoyable. I never read the Fixed series so I don't really know whether or not it compliments it. It's great on it's own though.

I adore how Norma struggled to find and accept Boyd's place in her life. It's definitely a worthwhile journey.

My only complaint is with a tiny aspect of the epilogue. There is a tokenism to it that makes my skin itch. I think the story could have done without it or atleast have it handled better by making the story longer.

I think this book was well written and had some really steamy bits in it, but I just wasn't that much of a fan of the characters. I didn't really feel like Norma and Boyd were characters I was particularly interested in but I wanted to read the whole series anyway. I never would've envisioned Norma and Boyd having this sort of a relationship so it was kind of a shock to me but I did like how it developed.

I'm glad it was such a short book or I probably wouldn't have finished it.

I'm a little unsure how I feel about this one. It was sexy as hell and I loved Boyd. I didn't particularly like Norma. I just didn't like the whole dynamic of it. Boyd being 8 years younger than Norma, and being her assistant. Plus all the stuff with Hudson who came off as a total jerk in this one. The time jumps also annoyed me, along with the fact that they kept their relationship a secret for like 2.5 years. I don't know, just underwhelmed with it...

I liked the powerful woman in the business world/powerful (younger) man in the bedroom dynamic--it was different, and it worked here. Their scenes were truly something else--definitely NSFW! (Not really SF reading while you're sitting and waiting for your daughter to get her hair done for prom either, but what can you do? ;)) I liked that they were able (once Norma got over the first-day-after awkwardness) to separate work and fun and keep their spheres of power separate...mostly. Frankly, I'm amazed they were able to keep everything under wraps as long as they did--2 1/2 years; impressive!

Since this is a novella, the author makes up for the shorter format by skipping periods of time between chapters--it's more like a highlight reel of their relationship, with some very detailed scenes thrown in there from each time period highlighted. Probably if you've read the rest of the Fixed series and already know Norma and Boyd, this won't be a huge deal--even though I hadn't read the other books, it didn't bother me all that much. I still felt like we saw enough to get the gist of their relationship and understand where they were each coming from. It would have been nice to have all the blanks filled in with a longer story, but it wasn't strictly necessary.

This was my first book from this author, but probably not my last!
