This was very well written, but it was so infuriating. The main conflict could have been solved with one conversation.

Nothing meaningful happened until 90%. There was just so much unnecessary pining. I wish more happened in this story.

4 stars, purely because I did enjoy it and I thought the writing was great. However I was so annoyed.

Starting this book, I had some expectations. I anticipated it to be as funny as To Con a Gentleman. Instead of laughing out loud, my emotions were pulled the opposite direction. This read is more poignant. I thought Rose and Carver would be amusing (which they were) and that, in combination with Elizabeth's series of unfortunate events, helped break up some of the heartache with Elizabeth and Mary, Elizabeth and Oliver, and Elizabeth and Wesley. I'm really hoping Wesley gets his HEA after all that! He was put through a bit of an upheaval. I love that Sarah gave this sequel a different tone and look forward to seeing more from her.

There are books where you read about characters and books where you get to know the characters—where you could imagine how they would act in various other circumstances. That was this book. Sarah Adams made me laugh, cry, and cheer for these two characters (and loads of side characters too!)

I really enjoyed the fun twists and turns this book took, Elizabeth’s wild and passionate behavior, and Oliver’s goodness. I loved that the difficulties in the way of their relationship were BELIEVABLE. But most of all I loved their love. It was so sweet to see their friendship blossoming into more in the past, and continue to grow and become a beautiful, vibrant relationship.

I (obviously) loved loved loved this story and will now be recommending it to anyone I know.

Sarah Adams is one of my favorite authors and I had so much fun with this book!

I do like friends to lovers, though about half way through the book I wanted to shout at these two to just talk to each other for a moment. But their friendship was so sweet and their banter so funny, I couldn't help but love them, and love them together.

One aspect that I really loved was the sister relationship and the growth they had with each other. I also loved the father side plot and teared up over it at the end.

It's a sweet, clean romance! I bought recommend it (and Sarah Adam's other books)!

Awww loved this sweet regency and while it might not follow the true rules of the time period… it had the perfect ending. This is story about not letting your fears and hurts prevent you from living the life you want.

“If you have to change yourself for love, it’s probably not a love worth having.”

“There is a difference between changing yourself for someone to love you, and growing into a better person.”

“The thing about emotional scars is that they often distort our view of ourselves. Sometimes we think we are seeing our skin, ugly and marred, but really we’re just looking at a scar and don’t realize it.”

“It’s time to stop asking what if. Live your life now, don’t wait to see what happens later. You’ll miss it if you do.”

“Who you are is not determined by the blood in your veins. You are what you love. And you love goodness, Oliver. You love joy. You love family.
