Love both characters. I need an epilogue so badly.

I’m not a huge contemporary fan but I liked the characters and it was well written. A fast read. I think those who like this kind of book would love it. Side note: I love this cover.

I was granted an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley

I was actually surprised by this book. I expected a light, typical YA romance, but this book is so much more. Told in alternating points of view, the reader gets to see the struggles of both Penny and Sam, and how they manage to pull each other through some intense situations.

I loved how real the characters were. They were awkward and flawed, and that was okay. Some parts were difficult to read, but that just made the book that much better. It touched upon real life problems that many people deal with, and it did it in a way that completely sucked me in.

This was..awkward, to say the least. My feelings are conflicted. It was not what I was wanting it to be.

I loved this book so much! I finished it so quickly too and as soon as I finished I wanted to flip it over and start again! The characters are believable and the way in which it is written is true to a modern teenage romance I loved it!

Emergency Contact was just the contemporary I needed to get me back into reading. This story is about Asian-American Penny and finding an unlikely emergency contact who she can tell anything and everything with no awkwardness because it’s only texting.

This gave me Fangirl vibes because of Sam working in a coffee shop, the college aspect, and how the MC is awkward and different than the normal MCs we see in YA.

This was so enjoyable and I loved how real it was, that was probably my favorite part, it wasn’t glossed over! I would highly recommend this book!!

Somewhere between a 3.5 and a 4 so I rounded up.

Fun characters, some delectable swoon, and really invigorating dialogue and character development.

As I was reading/listening to this book, I was thinking I was going to give it somewhere in the 3-4 star range, but the ending brought the score down, I was very disappointed with it. I liked the characters well enough, but I didn't feel the chemistry with the main characters as more than friends. I also feel like the author didn't know what tone to go for because for the most part it was lighthearted and sweet, then all of the sudden, a character talked about being raped and it felt like I got whiplash because it came out of nowhere. I went into this book wanting a lighthearted sweet romcom, and this wasn't it. Overall, the book was fine, it was a way to pass the time, I might try to read another book by the author because I think this book definitely had potential.

The book was okay. The "slang" usage in the book was a sort of off-putting to me. It took me the first 100 pages to truly get into the book. The main girl character was kind of annoying, but she grew on me in the end. I would recommend this book, but it depends on the person. Overall the book was okay. It did the meet the expectations that I thought it would make.
