Forget Me Not
Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

Wow, I really enjoyed this book. It was such a pleasant surprise, and it had me totally hooked from the beginning! I normally am not a fan of dual timelines, but I honestly think that Julie nailed this one. It was so well constructed and paced between the past and present point of views. I loved the MC's, Elliot and Ama, and seeing their relationship from each point of view and timeline. It was so engaging and intriguing. Ama is so independent and strong, as is Elliot, but each have their own struggles to work through. They are so totally opposite but also go together like peanut butter and jelly (well maybe not peanut butter, IYKYK 🤣). I just wish we had even more of these two in the final chapters!! Also, may I just say...I can't wait to read more by Julie Soto! I hope we get a peak of these two again.

“You may think everything ends one day, but you haven’t had ‘everything’ with me.”

This book has been popular last year so I'm a year late with the read and I finally understood what the craze was about. The one and most important piece that I love so much about this book is the dual POV and timeline. Julie Soto wrote this book in a way where the present timeline is Ama's POV while the past timeline is Elliot's POV. It's a second chance romance, so you're really intrigued as to why these two broke up because they were clearly captivated with one another - like hello? Who can get past Elliot's grumpy behavior but Ama, right?

It's really fascinating to see and understand people's perspective when it comes to marriage such as how one is adamant to not get married because of her mother's 16 marriages. Although, it's pretty ironic how this book is set in a way where these two main characters had to work together for a wedding since Ama is wedding planner while Elliot is a florist. With their past relationship, you can see the struggle of being in each other's presence.

It's a really cute and quick-read for a second chance romance. I just wish that there's more to the story than meets the eye because it's pretty predictable. Other than that, it's a good read!

For this book, I opted to not annotate, just to get the feel of reading without taking a second to write on the book. I was experimenting how much faster I would be if I annotate or not and I've realized that it's almost the same. Maybe in one book, it's an additional hour or so just to annotate, so I'm still going to annotate books that I feel like it would be a book I've thoroughly enjoy more when I wrote down my feelings.

I have a lot of problems with this book, but I will say that it was a quick read since the writing style is pretty easy on the brain, so it's a good time passer book. There were also some parts of the story that were nice. Also Elliot looks like S4 Eren Yeager on the cover, which is the reason I picked up this up in the first place.

But okay:
- I didn't like either of the characters. Ama annoyed the hell out of me and she definitely needs therapy. She wanted everything out of a relationship but didn't wanna commit to the label. I also feel like I know nothing about her except that she's a wedding planner, has very bad commitment issues and eats an obscene amount of donuts.
- Elliot grew on me a little towards the end but he was so grumpy and rude for no reason. Only thing I really liked about him was his tattoos if I'm being honest.
- Ama and Elliot also had no emotional chemistry. Their whole relationship was built on lust and the fact they banged a few times. Because of that I couldn't even invest in them as a pair.
- The dual POV was interesting, and also the past and present shifts. In the present though the couple barely interacts which goes back to me not feeling invested in their relationship.

This book also focused too much on the wedding planning aspect. That's fine and good except for the fact that this was supposed to be a second chance (?) romance. But how could their be second chances for a relationship that had very little foundation in the first place???

I was mostly bored by this book. Spent more time trying to understand why it was so popular than actually engage in the story.

Right off the bat, Forget Me Not pulled me out of a reading slump that I hadn't been able to shake for months. Especially as an audiobook, it was an enjoyable, easy to enjoy read that brings together grumpy/sunshine, scond chance romance, and alternating timelines/flashbacks.

This was a great read from Julie Soto. Forget Me Not takes an up and coming wedding planner and pairs her with a grumpy (accidental) florist who has grump for everyone but her. The twist? They may have accidentally brokn eachother's hearts two years ago!

I loved the angst you felt as you waited for them to make decisions about their relationship, the unsureness, the "which way will this go!?" I'm excited to see more from Julie Soto (and looking forward to Not Another Love Song!)
