I actually came across this book when I was 10 (same as Peter) and 7 years later I still remembered almost everything and yet the story still managed to entertain me to no end.

I loved it then, I love it now and I have no doubt that I will love it later on too. The characters are just so rich and unique and crazy. Take Good Ol' Fredrick the talking fish for example. It's brilliant!

At the time ofcourse the book also enveloped me in it's mystery but I believe that it could have done the same now had I not remembered so much.

This book has, action, heart warming moments, talking fish that call you "mate" and every other thing you can imagine.

The twists weren't exactly unpredictable, per se, but it was still amazing.

Library book. I really loved this book, it is a terrific magical adventure type story. I was reading it a chapter here and there at work but then it got so exciting that I had to bring it home and finish it. It has what may be the best first chapter of any book ever.

I really wanted to like this book because of the cover *heart eyes* but it fell flat. Significantly. Kudos to the author for being highly original, but I just didn’t feel like it was appropriate for the age group it’s marketed for- there was a fair amount of surprisingly gross/gruesome/morbid/just weird kind of stuff going on. Like the raven plucking out Peter the baby’s eyes??? The tone is casual and that just makes it worse.

There were other elements I didn’t care for, but the one above was the main reason I DNF’d it. And, really, I think Peter just needs some friends his own age.

Great adventure. Loved the fact that although Peter had been raised to be a thief, he knew he wanted more from life, and that he wanted to find honor. Very good book!

Such an interesting premise. A blind, orphaned, thief, getting called up on a hero's journey. I loved this writing, and the journey Peter went on. He was a wonderful flawed unlikely hero, and the supporting characters were delightful as well.

An engaging and imaginative children's tale. Jonathan Auxier is a gifted writer. He manages to weave important themes quite naturally into the story. I plan to read more by him.
