Scathing in its critique. At times, brilliant in its insights. Operates with a different set of assumptions but provides much to consider. In conclusion, it lands very close the book of Proverbs.

Not really a book. Really just an expanded and scientifically justified definition of stupidity and how it can be applied to the world. Most people are stupid. (Me).

It's not even a troll book. It just defines stupidity as an agent's actions that create net harm on him and his neighbors irrationally. A bandit causes harm rationally, and thus hurts society less. A helpless person is harmed without creating more harm. An intelligent person is someone who creates net growth for themselves and society.

It doesn't really go into the networking of stupidity which is where the real danger lies. People can be stupid. Groups are stupid and dangerous at a scale that eats planets.

This "essay" takes itself SO seriously, while going so far out of it's way to fail to say anything of any real substance. It's only actual accomplishment is to come off as the author pretentiously ranting for what seems like FOREVER (despite how very short it is) about how how much of the population is "stupid", clearly fueled by personal grievances, all while trying to act like this is somehow backed by scientific or economic fact, as if "stupid" were a calculable substance that could ACTUALLY be measured, not a subjective concept, all while not even putting forth his OWN "definition" of the term.

I expected a bit of humor, I got a real life "man yells at clouds" meme.

Maybe that's the joke....but if so...it's not funny, it's just....stupid.

It’s a short book. It is perhaps the shortest book that I’ve reviewed. However, there’s something profound about The Basic Laws of Human Stupidity, which is both hidden from view and inherently true. We’ve been told not to back a wild animal into a corner, since they have nothing left to lose and will do anything to escape. So too, should we be concerned about stupid people.
