I really enjoyed this installation.

Again, this series shines in the character depth. I love that there are lots of ways in which I do NOT like Elena. The narrator doesn't hide her jealousy, resentment, and quite frankly ugly pieces of her mind. I love this. I wish I could say I've never felt anything like that, but it is relatable (granted on a smaller scale).  So much growth happens within and between the two girls, and it is fascinating to think of how each turn has lead to where they are now. The writing/translation are excellent in my opinion and I really feel like I'm growing up with these girls, going through the hardships and having my heart break and beat with them.
I can't wait to continue this story.

In a nutshell, The Story of a New Name isn't just a continuation of a story; it's an exploration of friendship, choices, and the sometimes-painful journey of self-discovery. Ferrante's knack for capturing the intricacies of human relationships is on full display here, making the book a must-read for anyone who's ever had a friendship that's evolved, for better or worse, over time.

I read this as if I was in a trance.. there was so much heartbreak bitterness on each page I felt like I was violating someone’s privacy by reading their diary where all their deepest darkest thoughts and desires reside. Even though Ferrante’s writing is clear and decisive, it’s able to evoke so much emotion within the reader because you feel like you’re really inside the narrators psyche. In this book we follow the two friends through their adolescence and beginning of their adulthood and watch (in horror) how they navigate love, betrayal and heartbreak. Although in the past I’ve disliked Lenu’s whining and insecurities, in this book I was surprised by how much I related to her - especially her feelings of inadequacy and imposter syndrome in an academic setting. No matter how the series ends, I am in it for the long run now.

As much as I wanted to resist the hype, I really love these books. They're long; both books end in the middle of a climactic scene; there is a list of characters at the beginning of the book that I needed to keep consulting because I got confused; but none of those things bothered me as much as they normally would. I couldn't put this one down, and I will probably go out today and buy the next one. The characters just feel so real and intimate. During one part of the book, I was genuinely overwhelmed by how much I related to Elena.

(EN) Second chapter will make the differences between the girls go deeper and also will put them in hard situations. Their decision at times look very crazy but I can definitely translate them into real life.

(RO) A doua carte va adânci diferența dintre fete și le va pune în situații grele. Deciziile lor par uneori nebunești dar pot fi corelate cu ușurință în viața reală.
