A fun standalone book.
I really liked the story and it reminded me of the lux series from her a bit. Kinda want to read those again now.
I liked the powers and although I was right about who I thought was going to turn out to be the "bad guy", I did not expect the why.
I always fly through jla her books and I had the same with this one. I have never not liked a book from her.

In a word this book was emotional. I really enjoyed the ride the author took us on.
Ember is struggling not only with being her sister’s caregiver but because of what her sister can do and the results of the tragedy she has lived through.

I loved the world building Jennifer gives us, it’s never forced it always seems so organic. It makes for an intriguing story and one you won’t want to put down.
I kind of wish this was a series because I would love to know more about some of the other characters and even more Ember I mean the way the book ends it could lead to so much more.

I loved the narration Saskia gives the emotion the inflection and the heartbreak in her voice it's wonderful and keeps you gripped in the story.

This book was not super unique and i felt i read it before. The plot was not well crafted and had many loose ends. But i did like the world and the characters.

My first impression of this book was that the concept of it was phenomenal. But seeing as I hadn't ever read any of Jennifer L. Armentrout's books I didn't know whether or not she could pull it off successfully.

As for the characters, I thought Ember and Hayden were beautifully written, but I wasn't a huge fan of the others. In particular, I hated Phoebe. At first, I felt like she was a pointless character even though it was her who divulged the information about Ember's "accident." She was just needlessly mean, and I felt like, barring that one occasion, the story would have been quite the same without her. That is until the "big reveal" partway through the book. Then I felt sorry for her.

The surprises in this book were amazing, and had me literally gasping on occasion - especially Hayden's "secret" and of course, the reveal of Mr Theo's true colours. This is definitely a book that will keep you guessing, and on edge, right until the very end.

Overall, I loved it. I didn't think I did but I'm pleasantly surprised and can't wait to read more of Jennifer L. Armentrout's novels.

I rated this book 5 stars on Goodreads.

This book was given to me in exchange for a review, my views are in no way affected by the author or publisher.

This was definitely and interesting concept and what a tough thing to deal with! I suspected that jerk Mr. Theo and I’m glad he got his due. I feel like I wish this book wasn’t a stand alone because I still have questions but I’m glad things worked out in the end. Poor Ember went through so much and while Hayden was a bit stalkery, he won me over in the end.

I guess Mrs. Armenstrout was aiming for a series or trilogy and decided to cut in down in the end. Actually I was quite disappointed because there are so many questions left unanswered, but it was a nice read.

Cursed reminded me a bit of typical awesome JLA writing style mixed with X-Men First Class with a dash of Carrie.

Truthfully, I expected Cursed to have been one of JLA's first books, as it just didn't feel as fleshed out or flow as well as her other novels. I was really surprised to see that it was published in 2012. Don't get me wrong, I completely enjoyed it, but it also reminded me a lot of Obsidian, as if she'd written this first and then changed it a bit and used it for the Lux series. Maybe I'm imagining things here, but that's what it seemed like to me!
