This has been my favorite installment of the A Song of Ice and Fire series thus far. It has not one but two ill-fated weddings, a farce of a trial, escaping prisoners, giants riding mammoths, and the increasing magic in the world is bubbling to the top. Many of the characters I wanted to see gone died finally, OR new intriguing facets of their characters were revealed, Ć la Jaime Lannister. Some characters even came back to life!
So far I'm rooting for Jon Snow, Arya, Tyrion, Jaime, and Brienne of Tarth.
If I wasn't so busy, I would start reading the next book immediately! Great stuff!

Gosh, that took forever. Martin is a skilled writer, Iāll admit. Iāve been wanting to dislike is books because of their reputation but he spins a good story. I loved Jaimeās character development and that the supposedly āgoodā characters are actually morally grey. I wished better for the Starks, though. There were some redeeming deaths to counterbalance, but now Iām not sure whoās going to rule this big steaming pile of crap called Westeros. You canāt really invest in anyone and that makes it harder to stick with the story.

I listened to the audiobooks back in 2012, but I've been SLOWLY working my way though the actual books hoping to pick up some details I might have missed.
Original review:
Oh George don't you know how attached to characters I get? This about sums it up: JKRvsGRRM
Definitely still enjoying this series though... Wish I got HBO so I could watch the show too.
