The worst book I've ever laid my eyes on. It was a pain to read it, but I'm glad I did finish it so I can return it to my friend (I've been holding it prisoner for over a year).

Okay so the plot confused me throughout most of this book but I still enjoyed the characters growth so this book was worth reading to me. Everyone kept telling Elena that she wasn't a fighter but they were all wrong! She was a angelic warrior and she kicked major ass is this book. She didn't need rescuing, she was the one that rescued everyone else which is a really nice change from TV!Elena. And Damon continues to be the better brother even though he's supposedly the "bad" one. He protects Elena, Bonnie, and the others; he cares about Stefan and wants to find him so badly that he beat the crap out of his abducter. I can't say the same for Stefan. He continues to see the worst in Damon and his judgemental self righteous bullshit is so boring. Thank God he wasn't in this book very much. Hopefully he'll be in the next book even less. I'm looking forward to seeing Elena go on that road trip with Damon and Matt to search for Stefan in the sequel. I'm ready to drain the vein of the next installment of TVD. Give me more Damon and more Warrior!Elena. I'm ready for it.

Soo much has happened in this book. I loved the storyline with the Kitsune and had no idea that they were in this book. Elena is so powerful right now. The malach are completely disgusting and the whole possession of the young girls because of Misao, urgh I hate her. The brother is super creepy too. I hope to god we don’t see them again.
I had mixed feelings about Damon in this book. I understand after that he was being possessed because as crazy as he can be what he did to Elena and Matt was pure abuse and torture. I love Meredith, Bonnie and Matt coming through for Elena and Stefan.
Where is Stefan? This stupid riddle the twins have to find the keys to unlock his cage is ridiculous! I wonder how the next book will go and how they start the journey to release him. The book ending with Damon, Elena and Matt having to run away as people are after Matt because of allegations Caroline has made. Hate Caroline, also she’s preggers by Tyler I think? This is weird trio but I also I’m not too thrilled with how friendly Elena is with Damon.

I...don’t know. Everything was just so convenient. And Elena annoys the shit out of me. Loyalty is a big trait for me and while she hasn’t done anything with Damon or Matt (that wasn’t by force at least) she’s like practically in love with Damon too and has her jimmies all rustled.
Also the scenes at the end with Damon and Elena’s plan to attack the kitsunes were just so slow-paced and confusing.

This review is ridiculous sounding, but there were just points in this book that I didn’t know how to react. Am I going to read the next one?....well. Yeah.

I was so incredibly disappointed with this book. I hate to say it but it feels like LJ saw the success of Twilight and decided to try and revive her series through a badly constructed version of the lovey dovey crap I can't take. The first 200 pages were like nails on a chalkboard. Honestly, I don't really see any need for Elena as "spirit child" and the whole ridiculous lovey dovey love love talk. It made me want to roll my eyes about 100% of the time.

When Elena returned to her "normal" self the book overall was confused at best. There was no flow to the writing at all and the subject matter was just lame and horribly cliche. I hated that my favorite character from the previous books was ruined. Honestly I hated all the portrayals of the characters in this book. She should have just stopped at three books. I don't think I am going to continue on with this series. This last book was enough crap forever.
