Loved it!

Best book of 2016! So good. Perfect!

I can't wait to read the next one. This is becoming an awesome series.

I loved this book! Johansen deftly navigates between characters and time periods, while exploring the heroine's darker nature. I found the world building positively intriguing, more so than the first. Absolutely recommend!

Enjoyed this a lot as well. I picked up book 1 and 2 together from the library so it was a bit of a one-two punch for me. Not having to wait between books helped and kept the momentum going. Certain characters like the fetch continue to be extraneous to me, tropes of typical fantasy novels that I think this series didn’t need but I could forgive that. Great job

So um... Did I miss something or could a lot of things be handled way easier if those sapphires really are THAT powerful?
If Kelsey can just casually destroy a bridge why did she not try to destroy the enemy's weapons? I get that maybe the Red Queen kept her from doing that but the Queen hadn't been with her army most of the time so why not before?
Also... was the Fetch just suddenly walking around without his mask in the end and Mace didn't seem surprised at all? Or was that some other mysterious handsome dude who could get in anywhere he wants undetected?

I'm not sure I like where this all seems to be going but maybe it'll surprise me.

I didn't think that this was nearly as engaging as the first, but I really am looking forward to the third (and last) book in the series.

Book 2 of The Queen of the Tearling trilogy.
This fantasy tale picks right up where the first left off. The Mort army is invading the Tear because of the brave and just actions of Queen Kelsea, the young new queen. The Queen must find a way to defeat the evil Red Queen, and to save her kingdom.
This one gets darker than the first novel, fighting against evil people and a corrupt and controlling government. ***Warning: This is NOT a Young Adult / Teen read. Triggers: Descriptive rape, domestic violence, self-cutting / self-harm, strong sexual content. These things are present in the plot for a reason, but is appropriate only for adult readers.
The characters are so well done. This story is a good dramatization of good versus evil. This is an exceptional series that I am loving and do recommend. It is over 500 pages, but it flew by quickly, I was so into the plot.
