I was really curious about the sinopsis, and I found it really cheap on BookDepository so I decided to give it a try.

It's kinda hard to describe what I think about this book, but I was so so tired when I reached the 50%. I didn't need half of the book, most of it had useless descriptions, and nothing relevant happened until the 70% mark, and even then I was pretty bored.

The writing style lacked of sense most of the time. It wasn't clear when the main character was having a fantasy or it was really happening to her. There was too much sex, really, too much. I was overwhelmed by the time I finished. It was like a porn movie, but worse. Porn usually gets you off, at least.

The dialogues weren't properly quoted sometimes. It got on my nerves every time she wrote something like: Are you okay, I said. Yes, he said.
Damn, was it so difficult to write an actual dialog? Clear conversations? Use quotations or something?

The ending didn't have much sense either, I read the last half of the book really fast, wishing at some point something interesting happened, but the story didn't catch my attention at all. Maybe at first I really wanted to give it a try, so I tried. But no, this wasn't a good book to me. In my opinion, it was a nonsense, and I don't recommend it.

Don't waste your time with this, I wish I could find something related to this premise, but well written and addicting and captivating. Not even the characters touched me. Nothing.

My first "erotica" book. I picked this up at a book sale without knowing what it was going to be about, and maybe I should stop judging books by their covers because this time it definitely did not pan out positively. lol

The narrator's thoughts felt redundant and repetitive. I feel like I never got to know who she was or what made her tick. The boyfriend scenes really should've just been removed entirely.

First, let’s give credit where it is due: I went in with an open mind and it was really good because it made me see some topics on the book in a different way that would have if I hadn't left my inhibitions at the door. If I’m going to talk just about the way sex is portrait in this book then I can say with conviction that this is an amazing book, it made me look at sex and sexuality in a way that I had never looked before, the author delivers a great argument for these different ways of expressing sexuality and I was absolutely convinced. The narrative and the dialog with the reader are impressive to say the least.

Now, I feel like the author wanted to be unique, not to fit in a specific category but I don't think that worked out well on the book. I couldn’t see where the plot was going and that was a plus because it kept me reading but when I got to end of the book and realized what the whole thing was about I really didn't like it. The book sends mixed signals , by the end it seems that the character regrets all that she has done and is giving us a warning, but that cancels all that she has said about her sexuality and how she has discover herself. It stars as a book about discovering sexuality and uncovering fantasies and ends as a murder mystery.
I wanted to give 5 stars to the book up until the end but then it all just fell thru.

I bought the book based on the blurb, thinking it was going to be about a young woman infiltrating a sex society for some bigger purpose. The "society" only appears at the end and is never really explored, the relationship between Catherine and Jack seems unhealthy and the side characters of Bundy and Anna are left underdeveloped. The end of the book is unsatisfying on many levels, to top it off, and the only thing really explored is Catherine's increasingly elaborate sexual fantasies. Sasha Grey has the potential to be a great writer, and if she's given the chance her next book can prove that, if she's given a firmer guiding hand in plot development. Characters can't make a book or film enjoyable if there's not enough plot for them to exist within.
