Although I was intrigued by the plot line and plan on continuing the series (possibly more driven by my own nosiness and need to know everything than by an actual want to read more though!) I didn't think this book was amazing. A lot of the sub plots with each character seem a tad dramatic and over the top. I also found it very clear the books were aimed at a teenage audience because at times it just lacked in mature vocab and style.
Overall an easy read that intrigued me and so I shall read on and see where we go with this one...

Was a good start to a potentially great teen series. However I found I didn't enjoy it as much as expected, probably due to the fact that I've seen the TV series, so the twists and turns in the book were less exciting for me as I already had a fair idea of what was going to happen next.

I did have some issues with the book. But mainly the brand dropping was the most annoying. Sometimes it felt more like the author was trying to sell me something tan tell a story, which got annoying fast.

My recommendation is to read the books before watching the series, because the show is FANTASTIC and will BLOW YOUR MIND!

I really liked this, there’s a lot of plot twists and its all kind of dramatic and ridiculous but that’s probably what makes it good. And I like reading about rich people too, so that’s good. It’s pretty easy to read, so I read like the second half of it in one sitting and it’s just so easy to follow.

I’m super excited to read the next book, because this left a pretty big cliffhanger and the way this is written is just like addicting and I really want to start the second book right now. 4 stars

I enjoyed this; I thought it was messy but in a good way. There are a lot of topics I'm not the biggest fan of, but it is a teen drama series, so I'm not surprised. I still love the show so much better and am glad they didn't do certain thing that happen in this. Like, they are slightly older in the show...at least when Alison goes missing, because in the book it's a 3-year time jump, but in the show, it's only been a year. I'm really interested to see what else is different in the next books

Pretty Little Liars is my favorite television show, so perhaps that's why this book fell short for me. I know that the show and the books are extremely different, but I couldn't help but feel more of a liking for the show rather than the book. I feel like this book was more than likely intended for an audience younger than myself--in a lot of ways, the language and depth of the characters reminded me of the Clique series I read back in junior high.

If I was younger, I'd probably like the series more. But the unnecessary amount of detail to the designer clothes and accessories the characters wore, the vapid way in which they appeared throughout the majority of the novel left me rather unimpressed.
