No Man's Land: John Puller Series, by David Baldacci

I found myself rather disinterested while reading this book. I like the MC, John Puller, well enough. But the plot seemed a bit mundane. Maybe that's because it wasn't a "save the world" scenario, but rather a small-scale story involving the fate of Puller's mother 30 years earlier.

Puller's relationship with Veronica Knox in this book seemed stuck in neutral. She helped some with the case but didn't perform any great heroics. They flirted with making their relationship more serious, but nothing came of her advances or his reluctance to make any sort of commitment.

The antagonist, Claire Jericho, seemed too matter-of-fact ruthless and had no real motivation for what she was doing other than sort of a business-as-usual approach to doing business within the US Department of Defense.

Puller fans will want to read this book, but those looking for a book of Baldacci's to start with will be better off with one of the Camel Club series, the first Will Robie book, or one of Baldacci's first books.

I gave 5 stars for the first three books in the series.

For this book, however, I felt myself getting more and more irate. I spent £7.49 on the ebook because I was so excited to read the next part and to find out about John and Bobby's mum.

Their mum was so perfect. It felt like the author had forgotten his mother's birthday and wanted to write an apology by making Mummy Puller sound incredible. And the stuff with the bionic man was so stilted. And that part at the end just made me groan out loud.

The first three books are fantastic, so I'm just going to make myself believe that this one doesn't exist.

Not my favourite Baldacci book but it was a good read. It took me a good 200 pages to get into the book but once it took off, I couldn't put it down.

This was the 4th book in the series. I haven't read the previous ones so some things didn't make sense but for the most part it was an easy read. Some fast paced parts kept my attention and there were two storylines going on, therefore plenty to focus on. John Puller was an easy character to like.

Was great to learn what really happened to John Puller's mother on the night she disappeared and give the Puller family closure. I really enjoyed this story and couldn't put it down!

I love this series, but this one wasn't his best. The plot is similar to a movie I recently watched. That said Baldacci still provided another entertaining read.

A very good Puller book. He's just a little too much like Reacher but still an enjoyable read. This story was a good one.
