Billionaire boss romance

This was trite and formulaic, yet strangely compelling. All the usual clichés and tropes are to be found here. Billionaire boss, jealous ex, lots of steamy but unimaginative bedroom scenes. Pedestrian writing but it does the job of entertaining you for half an evening.

I received a copy from the author in exchange for a review.

This book is okay. It would be amazing if it's expanded. It's missing backstory, and inner monologue, and I would love it if most things weren't found out through dialogue.
The story, the plot twists, and the characters are there, all of those things are fine. The only thing is that it seems as if it's all happening too fast, too soon, mostly because the inner monologue is missing. It just seems rushed.
I really wanted to love it, but in the end I just liked it.

Wren needs a job to help pay for her sister’s care, not having any luck with her degree when she sees a job as a housekeeper and more than she can make with her degree, so she applies, surprised when she gets the job.
Stellan doesn’t do relationships, easily discarding women when they become clingy, but when he meets his new housekeeper something about her is different.
They both agreed to no strings, until they start to feel more but with Stellan’s past he doesn’t know how to give more, and Wren worries he will leave like everyone else.

I was sent a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for a honest book review.

The book starts off with Wren, who has just graduated with a degree in Special Education and Early Childhood Development, putting off get a teaching job in order to get a housekeeping job for one of the well known Zane siblings, Stellan Zane, which comes with a much higher pay check, in order to support her ill sister. It’s there that Wren and Stellan’s relationship goes from professional into something much more exciting.

Considering this book is not usually the type of genre I would usually pick to read, I completely enjoyed it, which took me a little bit by surprise after reading the current reviews. The storyline contained so much excitement, from romance, sex, death, violence and characters with mysterious backrounds that kept me reading to find out what each character was hiding. There were strong character developments in this book, as there was backround information not only given about the main and the secondary characters, but even characters we didn’t see all that much. This I would say is one of its strongest points of the book. There are certain parts that I didn’t get, such as the; argument, misunderstanding and lack of communication between Wren and Stellan, which went against their characters, plus it just irritated me. But even with this, I was still able to read and enjoy this book within a couple of hours and in just one sitting, as I wanted to know what happened in the end and have my questions answered and I couldn’t stop reading it.

I would definitely recommend that you give this book a read to anybody who is in the mood and fancy reading about love, sex, romance, death, violence, mystery, a dark past, as all of this, plus much more, is all within this one story. Enjoy your read.

The story is: Sister (Lennon) plots against overbearing, overly protective brother (Stellan) by hiring a young and pretty woman (Wren) to cook and clean for him. Easy enough job, especially as it is one man making a mess.
Both are attracted to each other even though they try to stay away. Eventually, Wren worms her way under Stellan's skin and into his heart.

Holy steamy sex scenes batman! Whoa!
There is a lot of adult content in this, especially swearing and descriptive sex scenes.
I read this while laying down with a migraine and it was well worth the read.

So, how can I get paid $70K a year to clean a house and cook for one handsome man, and end up getting the guy in the end too? Ha ha.

Stellan was a bit of an asshole at first, but as some of his past was revealed, it is any wonder how he and his siblings aren't more closed off from life.

I definitely had some serious feels for this book, especially when Wren had to deal with her sister's illness. I cried my heart out for Wren; such a terrible ordeal to have to deal with. Oh the feels! The feels!

For a stand alone novel in a series, this was well written and having read the series now, it is my favourite book out of the three Zane series. The author had a good story to tell here.
(More reviews from the series to come.)

I recommend this to those enjoy a good romance story.
