i think this is a cool concept but it felt very immature and young to me. i don't think i could even begin to tell you what is going on in this book because i am so confused. i think this might be good for a younger audience and i definitely do not fit into that category, so maybe this just is not for me.

This is a beautiful book- the colors are vibrant and oh-so-appealing. The fantasy elements are drawn in a very lovely way.

That said, the story is all over the place. It moves at a breakneck pace and the political intrigue element is not clearly explained. There’s a fantasy world that exists, but it feels very shallow. The back-and-forth between the family members gave me whiplash.

[spoilers]
Why can’t her mom come back to her?
Why can’t she be a full paragon? Or rather, why doesn’t her mom want her to be one? A
Why isn’t her sister doing anything to help her?
Why is the evil paragon clan having an orgy near the end?
Why is this cabal even evil?
Why did her mom curse her not-cat?
Why did the police even appear?
Why did her new cabal take her in when it will only make their relationship with her mom’s cabal fraught and probably lead to conflict, which they claim to want to avoid?

I just... it was a very pretty book with a disjointed plot and some interesting ideas that needed to be fleshed out further.

Cool graphics and magic system but I really didn't like the main character.

The art and colors of this graphic novel is very attractive, as are some aspects of the story itself. A parallelism within our own plane, all hidden in plain sight? I'm no doubt interested in following up with the story but admitting it truly isn't impressive or mind blowing. It's not a beacon of maturity, mostly when it comes to the characters, not even the adults behave very accordingly and then again, it's a graphic novel.

Bottom line: It is not bright, but entertaining and bold looking.

The drawing style was amazing and the story was beautiful. A quick read that I truly enjoyed.

I dove into Blackbird and holy- my gosh is it amazing!

The art style. There's beauty in everything on the page.

I love this concept and the story behind Nina and her sister.

I actually only heard of this series maybe a couple of years ago when I had just started on Goodreads. It wasn't until now that I found the series on Google Books and gosh I need to find out what happens in this series.
