I really don't understand all the pretentious bad reviews on this book. I felt that it was imaginative and unique. I loved all the twists and turns and how all the worlds collided with each other.

It isn't scary, or a thriller, but I really wasn't expecting it to be despite the creepy images. It just has an overall dark aesthetic, and I love books like that. I think the main character has unlikable qualities at first but throughout learning about his family, they are pretty understandable in my opinion, and don't make him a bad character whatsoever. He's a 16 year old boy, they're pretty much all unbearable in one way or another.

I almost didn't read this book because of how strongly some people hated it, but I'm glad I did, and I think I may even need to read more of the series. The world is just so interesting and I definitely want to see what the author continued to do with it.

I wish I would have know this was the beginning of a series before I started reading it. The ending was a little unsatisfactory because of the lead-in to a sequel.

This was a good YA fantasy adventure book. I enjoyed the action and the author was particularly adept at portraying the budding romance of youth.

I read this on my Kindle 3, which was slightly disappointing because it doesn't display the pictures very well. I'd recommend grabbing a physical copy, if you're going to read it.

Some parents might like to know that there is a moderate amount of swearing, around a PG-13 level.

This reminded me strongly of something I have watched when I first started reading it, I think an episode of Torchwood, the peculiar children from the past.

One thing annoyed me, the author wrote 'all of the sudden'. That's not correct! But otherwise quite good, not too childish like I thought it might be being for younger teens.

https://osrascunhos.com/2017/10/03/o-lar-da-senhora-peregrine-para-criancas-peculiares-ransom-riggs/

I decided to read the book after I watched the movie trailer and found it pretty amazing.
Now, after I finished the book, I watched the trailer again and was a bit disappointed because it was completely different from the book. I don't know how they're going to pull that off.
The book was amazing though and I can't wait to finish the rest of the series.

I personally feel like this book would have been better without the pictures. Every time I'd come across one, it would pull me out of the story, wondering about the real lives behind the photos. And the way the pictures are introduced into the story would often feel forced and unnatural. It got old really quick.
