Jesus this was spooky as hell. I felt like the beginning was much better but it got even more interesting in the last 100 pages or so. Truly spooky and highly recommend.

If you've seen the film, the Wybie character is not in the book and the bit where the other mother becomes a spider and Coraline is caught in her web alsonis not there. The rest of it is pretty spot on, but it made for a very underwhelming ending.
Moderate: Child death and Gaslighting
The other mother engages in gaslighting Coraline quite often by kind of skirting around the truth and making Coraline believe her life in the other world is better. Coraline herself also does not die, but there are

I know this series is popular but I wasn't expecting to love this first volume so much. It's such a beautiful and emotionally-rich story.

Oh this volume was even more heartbreaking than the last. I don't think Shizuku fully grasps the truth and intensity of Kaori's illness because she still thinks she's going to get better. I truly feel for her as it's a tough situation in general. I wish I'd read this closer to the release of volume 5 because now I'm having a book hangover 😭

This series just keeps getting better with each book. And with the plot twist, I knew something had to be wrong with Kaori since the author has been foreshadowing it this whole time. The ending of this volume was heartbreaking, but I'm grateful Shizuku was able to get her thoughts out to Ruri finally.

While the story is still a little confusing at times, I really enjoyed this volume and am excited to see where it goes in the next! I would love to know more about Yue's backstory and what happened to Shin.

Definitely slower-paced until it got towards the last couple of chapters. The story is a bit confusing at times but it's so interesting!

This one was slightly better than the last volume, but I still think the direction the story is heading is so odd. It's like the author didn't know how to keep the story going and is just throwing random nonsense together at this point. I loved the first 4-5 volumes and was interested in where the story was going, but now I'm mostly reading it for shits and giggles.

Ren's arc ended so abruptly, and Ruka finding out about Mito also happened overly quickly. Now there's a new character and it's officially turning into a reverse harem. This volume pissed me off honestly.

Although it was a little slow at first, I genuinely enjoyed this first volume and think it has a lot to offer. The art is interesting and I love the pops of color, as well as how color somehow is powerful.
