The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

Hazel has cancer, and meets a man named Gus at a talk group. They end up bonding and falling love. Later Gus uses his wish to take Hazel to Amsterdam to meet her favourite author. When they were there they become intimate for the first time, but also Hazel finds out that Gus' cancer has come back. They fall more and more in love as the book continues, and Gus unfortunately passes away. She goes to his funeral and Gus' best friend mentions about a letter that her favourite author wrote but that Gus helped him write it. She finds the letter and cherishes it as a forever moment with Gus. Although the book is about people with cancer, it's not a cancer book.

There are very few books that I read before the movie comes out but this was one of them. I read this in a matter of days and was obsessed with it. I even bought a second copy of the book in which I read whilst I listened to the audio book and highlighted my favourite quotes and different segments of the book, because of how much I loved it.

Simple to read and since it’s small it can be read in a short amount of time. Aimed at younger people but a good read if you love Rainbow as an author.

I actually chose to listen to this book as I wanted some light hearted and funny. Throughout she talks about personal experiences but makes you feel like you experienced them too.

It wasn’t my favourite book, but Amy’s writing and reading of the book made it more enjoyable.

I’ve never had a book pull on my heart strings as much as this. Noa writes in a way like no other author I’ve read, truly capturing every moment. A book about love and heartbreak as well as illness, death and the brutal reality we have to face.

At first I thought it was going to be a book about Steffan and his journey through depression, but instead it turned out to be so much more. A true love story and how nothing can stand in the way of true love if it’s meant to be. Not even the worst illness.

At some points this read similar to The Fault In Our Stars by John Green and also followed a familiar story line. If you enjoyed reading that book then I suggest reading this.
overheard at waitrose: poetry of the public by Theresa Vogrin, Idiocratea, Nathan Bragg

I didn’t know what to expect with this. Whether the title was to draw you in or if it was actually true. Turns out these are things people have actually heard in Waitrose.

The huge stereotype around people who shop at Waitrose was portrayed really well throughout this and how we imagine the customers to be.

Some of the poems/quotes were funny, some weren’t. I wouldn’t recommend but it’s good if you want something silly to read. However a lot of it feels exaggerated and false.

“Learn to take a compliment with grace, even if you don’t believe it.”

I ended up screenshooting so many passages from this book that I related to and made me feel ways that a book hasn’t before. Not only is it honest but it’s also inspirational.

Really enjoyed and related to many of the passages throughout. I would love to hear this as an audiobook so I could feel more of what was read.

This has so much potential to be an amazing book however I honestly felt like it was quotes pieces together from social media.

At first it felt like her experience with love and heartbreak but then it turned to feel like quotes that you can find on Pinterest.
