My thoughts in three sentences:

I loooooved the first half of this book and the chemistry between Nellie and Lockwood. However, I did find there was a bit too much angst/drama for me. The chemistry, steam, and banter was 🔥🔥, though.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 33%.
I saw some great reviews for this from people whose reading taste usually aligns with mine, but I found this not very steamy or interesting. Just not for me!

My thoughts in three sentences:

If you're going into this expecting a hockey romance like I was, you'll be disappointed, but the book is so well done that you should give it a try anyways! This book was steamy, emotional, and handled difficult subject matter extremely well. This is perfect for people used to YA romances looking to dip their toes into something a little more mature.

My thoughts in three sentences:

Wow, this was so much FUN!! The banter was amazing, the pacing was perfect, and the plot kept evolving just when you thought you’d figured it out. I can’t believe I’d never read a Johanna Lindsey book until now- but thankfully, I have a few of her other books to make up for my past mistakes!

My thoughts in three sentences:

Listening to this at work was the best idea ever because it was so much fun! I haven't laughed out loud from an audiobook in so long- what a delight! Heartwarming fun with a dash of spicy, yet wholesome, scenes.

My thoughts in three sentences:

All bullying and no play makes Prudence an annoyed reader. While this romance may fall under the 'dark' category, most of the time it just felt super angsty. However, I am curious to read some of Aiden's story...

My thoughts in three sentences:

I listened to the audiobook through Libby and although the narration for most characters was excellent, I hated her voice for Rhys - which is SUPER unfortunate because… hello! How am I supposed to swoon if I am repulsed by his voice?? The steamy scenes were really good, and it was interesting to have intimacy start so early on in the book, but the conflict near the end was a bit lacklustre for me.

My thoughts in three sentences:

Talia Hibbert took on the task of writing for a younger reading audience and she delivered! Celine and Bradley are some of the wittiest teenagers I have ever read- I ate their banter up. Emotional intelligence and self-love are on full display in this novel, giving readers of all ages something to think about it long after they return the book to its shelf.

I did it!!!

This was an epic saga. I was a little intimated at first by this book, but I told myself not to rush and to just pick it up when I felt like it. I probably won’t be taking 6 months to read the second book (whenever I decide to start that), but I am at least better mentally prepared for the writing style than I was before starting this one.

It’s pretty obvious that Diana Gabaldon did an incredible amount of research when writing this book. The world is so concrete and all-encompassing. My one complaint is that because of this attention to detail, the book is looooong. We have so many chapters with ‘slice of life’ Highlander edition, but we probably didn’t need all of them because this book is 850 pages long.

Another thing…. The steam? Where was it?? There was definitely sex, but it was mainly Jamie saying something flirtatious before time passing and the book moving on to Claire searching for herbs or learning how to make candles or whatever. Like… ok cool, but… I was promised steam. 💁🏼‍♀️😂

I’m very proud of myself for actually reading this tome, something I never thought I could do, and I know my Grandma is smiling down at me. 💚
