Review - They are well written and the characters are generally well-rounded and unusual in some way. I loved Phyllida and the idea of Lucifer acting as a landlord as opposed to the man-about-town impression we are given. What quite annoys me about the Cynster series is that none of them really take place within the tonnish society which means that many of the bounds of society aren't really in existence. It would have been interesting to see how a Cynster fared wooing a bride within society's bounds. That said, what Stephanie Laurens's books all have in common is that they mix really well the Mills & Boons style romance with the humour of a chic flick. This last book about the Bar Cynster doesn't disappoint.

This book had a mix of romance and a murder mystery, which I enjoyed. However, I didn't find the romance to be particularly compelling or well-developed. These are people in their twenties, and they decide that they have found the love of their life after 9 days...
The mystery aspect of the story kept me engaged, but the romance felt lacking. In the end, I would say that "All About Love" was all right, not great but not terrible either.

I read this for the "Headless" Woman square for Romance Bingo and my Series Headway selection.

This was pretty slow moving, its mostly a cozy mystery until 60% and out of nowhere we get something like this,

Then the story becomes a mystery with some pretty steamy sex scenes, quite the wake up call those scenes were, lol. Its well written but I found myself a bit bored, story just wasn't to my taste. The epilogue was sweet as we get reminiscing and looking to the future generation scenes from Honoria's (heroine from first in the series) point of view. It was a nice way to close out the Bar Cynsters and usher in the new, who look to be an honorary member and the girls of the Cynster pack to carry on the series.

We're back to the basics with the final book of the Bar Cynster (those are the 6 hottest rakish cousins rampaging through the ton in case you were wondering). The last of these hotties, Lucifer Cynster, just happens to visit his old friend and mentor on the day said friend and mentor is heinously MURDERED. In what might be the most batshit of all first chapters, Lucifer discovers a dead body, gets accidentally whacked over the head with a medieval halberd by someone who is NOT the murderer, and then experiences the most transcendent cheek caress of his life before falling into the deep, deep darkness of his thoughts. When he wakes up, he's in jail, being rescued by Phyllida (she of the sweet virgin angel cheek caress).

By the time you reach the end of the book, you've read about:
*Several near-death experiences including strangulation, incineration, and poker-coshing;
*Getting hot and heavy in the shrubbery;
*Getting undressed with the assistance of your dude's cavalry saber (we're talking about the real sword here);
*Catching a murderer;
*Getting married!

And if you've read all of the previous Bar Cynster entries, you get a sweet li'l epilogue tying up all of our couples with a cute red bow.

5-Word Summaries:

Laine: Corpse Adjacent Caress and Millinery

Meg: Marriage? Nah. Oh, hi, Phyllida…

She has so many in this series that I forgot I had already read it. It was still great the second time around. I tried to remember who the bad guy was but had to read the whole book to find out!! This is a wonderful series and I recommend this series to anyone.

Booooooooring, dragging and did mention boring.. well its neither romance nor a suspense book. It would be good if dont have any expectations i guess. Its a fine book but If "I" want a historical romance i will read a historical romance and if i want to read i suspense then i will get some book like Sherlock Holmes or any Agatha Christie book. Its has 4 stars but i don't know why but i was royally bored with the book. So you decide if you want to go ahead with it or not.

It's been a while since I've read a Stephanie Laurens, and this has been sitting on the to-read pile for a while. I fancied a bit of light fluffy action, so turned to this.

This is Lucifier's story - the last of the Bar Cynster - and he gets entangled in a murder mystery when he goes to visit and old friend. The Heroine is too stupid to live in many ways, and this annoyed me a lot more than that sort of thing usually does. Maybe I just hit this at a bad point - I've just read the latest Eloisa James, and not long since the latest Julia Quinn - and they were both better than this. I don't know if my tastes have changed, or if I've just read too many Laurens, but it didn't really set the world on fire. I've got a couple of other Laurens waiting to be read, so I'll see if this is a one off

Here is my issue with these "Oh a man like me can never admit love" bullshit spewing guys.
They see it happening constantly. Their siblings, their friends, their cousins, whoever... men they know and claim to respect are admitting to loving a particular woman and then marrying her. And they are HAPPY about it. Vane is not constantly out at ton balls looking for a new mistress, Demon isn't whinging on about how tied down he is, Gabriel isn't complaining that his wife now runs roughshod all over him. To a man these men are happy to be married & in love.
It's just perverse bloody mindedness or straight up fear/cowardice keeping the remaining single ones single.
Neither of which is terribly heroic.

This is the final book in the original Cynster Series; this is Lucifer also known as Alasdair Cynster. He was the final bachelor of the six notorious Bar Cynster, cousins of some repute.

Lucifer leaves his brother wedding celebrations early bound and determined to find a place to hide from would be matchmakers. He has no intention of being the next victim of the marriage curse afflicting his cousins. Luck has it his old mentor has asked him to visit to help appraise a treasured find.

Upon arrival at Colyton Manor, Lucifer finds his friend Horatio Welham`s body laying on floor, shortly after he is laid flat due to a blow.

Phyllida Tallent, the local magistrate`s daughter is mortified she almost killed a man, accidentally of course.

These two set out on a dangerous path of intrigue and passion as they try to find out who murdered Horatio.

I give this book 3 1/2 stars, the side story of Phyllida's friend Mary Anne, who refuses to let her tell Lucifer about the letters that Phyllida has been searching for got a little tiresome. It was good story line explaining why Phyllida was in Horatio's house but it just dragged on too long. I wanted to smack her after awhile, the self-centred twit, I don't think that was Stephanie Lauren's intent.
