I wanted so badly to love this book, as Greek Mythology is one of my passions. However, I felt like this novel fell short for me in many ways. The entirety of the novel felt rushed to me, all of the character development and background information was only given at the beginning of the novel. It felt like all of the characterizations were told, and not shown through character actions. I wasn't sucked into the story, even though I wished I could have been.

The entire premise of the novel follows an immortal man sworn to Artemis and a girl from America traveling in Turkey/Greece on vacation. The meeting and development of the relationship was brief and rushed so I had a hard time truly believing in the storyline and supporting the characters. Artemis was also a much weaker character in personality than I would have wished; her godliness fell short for me.

All in all, this was an interesting premise, but didn't pack the punch that I hoped it would.

I was given a preview to this novel through BookSirens!!

I'm a huge fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon and was hoping to get similar vibes from this. I would say it got about halfway there. The writing was fine, I think it could stand to be a little more complex and flow a bit more. The same with the plot, the first half of the book was really well developed and well done. And then right around the 55% mark everything just started on the fast track to resolution. The finale that we reached was both good and appropriate, I just would have liked more tension and sacrifice to get there.

Overall, I really appreciated the thorough description and details as it really transported me to Turkey; which was awesome because I've never been. The two main characters seemed to be pretty well developed. I would like to see the secondary and tertiary characters developed a bit more as well as the world. I think the way the plot unfolded also forced the reader to rely on knowledge that they already had "out of world" to build out the world in the book a bit too much.

All that said, I did enjoy Delia as a character and I'd like to read more of her story.

I liked this book a lot better than I expected. This is a short book and while reading it I did not have the feeling that the book was short, in the best way possible. I felt for the characters and I could feel the love growing between them. And to me that is quite a feat. I cannot wait to read the other books in this series and I will check if the other books by this author appeal to me.

I love Greek inspired story’s and especially Greek Mythology inspired story’s. It’s something different to escape to. To read about the lives of the people in that time period and the lives of the Greek Gods. From what I understood is that this story is a retelling of the story about Acontius and Cydippe. I might have read this story, but I cannot remember it. It has been a while ago that I read about the Greek myths.

The book is all about finding love when you least expect it and how fate can bring people together. Acontis is tired of his lonely life and wants to find someone to love and spend the rest of his life with. But he promised Artemis he would serve her and stay pure. While he serves Artemis he is immortal. On a fateful day he sees a woman who looks just as empty as he is and on a whim he throws a apple at her feet with the engravings that bind her to him. At the time he is not aware of the consequences of this action.

When Delia picks the apple up and reads the inscriptions out loud she does not know her life is about to change. When she returns to America she has a crappy year and to forget all the things that have happened she agrees to return to Turkey and Greece with her father. This is where she meets Acontius again and their romance start to develop.

I think this is a sweet story about two people finding love. I liked both characters. Delia is a hard worker who loves history and Acontius is sweet and innocent. I believe they will so anything for each other. If you like Greek mythology and romance books than I think you will enjoy this book.

The only problem I had is that he’s immortal and doesn’t have enough money for a fancy hotel. You’ve been alive for centuries and still couldn’t figure out how to save some money?
I really liked the story, you have Greek Mythology with a modern twist. I also liked that her dad was on board with believing Greek Gods are real. I hope this becomes a series, I would love to see her modern take on more Greek stories.

Thank you Book Sirens and Midnight Tide Publishing for an advance reader copy of this book, I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I love Greek mythology retellings and this one did not disappoint. I found Delia and Acontius to be enjoyable characters. With the book being so short it was hard to connect with the characters and really feel like you know them.

I loved Delia's connection with her dad and how he was concerned for her throughout the book. Acontius was an interesting character that we really only got to see as an innocent and aloof person. I would have liked to see some more of his complex thoughts that would have allowed us to understand his loneliness.

I thought the author had an appropriate amount of tweaks to the original myth that kept this story interesting and relevant. Overall I plan to continue the series, and check out more works by the author.

Wow, what a magnificent and magical book. It was amazing to fall in this story and these characters.
We see a new side of very known characters like Artemis, Hermes, Apollo or Morpheus. I couldn't stop reading and I just wanted to read more and more about Greek gods (the ones in this book and all the others).
Seeing the Greek gods in the modern world is still magical and we are transported to their natural ambience.
Can't wait to read more stories about these gods and these characters.

This is a very quick read and what drew me in the most was the Greek mythology! I absolutely love all sorts of mythology, but the Greek God’s are my absolute favorite. A couple are sprinkled throughout the story and it make it exciting for me to read - just to have something new to embrace.

I’m not big into romance novels, so I think the fast pace of events was what was ruining it for me. I think it could have been spread out a bit more, maybe more detail into who each character was. I also feel awful for Dad - he was such an important role and then... poof.

My rating is more like 3.5 Stars and had the chain of events not been rushed, I’d easily give this a 4.5!
