For some reason I always forget Kennedy Ryan is one hell of a writer, so when reading one of her books I’m transported into that world surprisingly. One thing I love about her books is that the man is always down bad, in absolute love with his woman. There’s no wavering once they realize. I hate a third-act break up and luckily that didn’t happen, as much as Neevah tried. Canon was such a sweetheart, despite his hard-ass exterior. He found someone who he loved more than his art, and it was exactly what he needed to heal from the loss of his mother. Neevah frustrated me keeping her illness a secret but I could understand why. I really hated her sister and thought she forgave her too quickly. Terry wouldn’t take responsibility for her hurtful actions and even in the end I feel like she still held resentment for Neevah having the audacity for staying angry with her over the years. Neevah should not have been the one trying to repair the relationship. Terry should’ve reached out over the years, but instead chose to blame Neevah for the continued estrangement. Neevah was happy at the end so that’s what mattered. I loved this book.

I had a hard time getting into this book. I do love the writing and the characters and ofcourse I love the chemistry but for some reason, I was having a bit of a hard time getting into this book. I think I couldn't get into this because I am currently in some sort of reading slump.

I give this 3 1/2 stars

*I received a free copy of Reel. This has in no way influenced my voluntary review which is honest and unbiased.*

Oh wow! Reel is a masterpiece that includes everything I didn't even know I wanted in a contemporary romance novel! There is romance, of course. There are some amazingly well-rounded and compelling characters. There is the past that is shown in the present through the movie Canon is making with Neevah as the main actress. There is history, heartache, success, and everything in between.

Kennedy's writing is simply gorgeous, and I was so into the story that I didn't even notice that I was staying up way past my usual bedtime to continue reading! Not only is Reel one of my favorite books in 2021, it's also made it to my all-time-favorite shelf. And it truly deserves to be there.

Reel is a very realistic story in every way, the way Neevah and Canon meet by chance, how Canon wants to take a chance on an unknown actress for his big budget bio-pic, and how they both try to not fall for each other to take care of their reputations in a cut-throat industry.

If you are looking for a story that will fill your heart, make you laugh, and also make you cry, pick up Reel - I am sure you'll thank me later.

Love. Pain. Excellence on the creative industry. Self control. In sickness and in health. Family. Forgiveness. All these words/phrases come to mind while reading this book.

I love that parts of it are influenced by things that happened historically in the film industry.

It is so well written I read it in a couple of days.

Good read

I enjoyed this story, but I was expecting more of something. I’m still happy I read this book. It’s a really good book with a lot of detail. The stories it told within a story was intriguing. The characters were well developed. I’ll recommend this book
