I've read better time travel. But it did have a emotional and satisfying ending.

4.5 rounded up. Excellent audio narration.

I was hooked from the beginning. I love time travel books and am willing to overlook the lack of plausibility in method. Firstly, the book opens in Chapel Hill and the protagonist is a physical therapist! I felt like I was home. Raleigh and the outer banks figure frequently into the story, so it was a bit like going home for me.

The story begins in 1970 when Carly learns her unborn child has a fatal heart defect for which there is no treatment. Her brother-in-law offers a unique and unimaginable possible solution.

Carly is faced with numerous heartbreaking and difficult decisions. There are numerous twists and turns in this well-crafter story.

I did find the phrases 'my daughter' and 'my baby' used a little repetitively with frequent reminders of what Carly was thinking or feeling , but still I loved the book and had difficulty putting it down.

So good! Truly a unique novel. Although it deals with science fiction topics, it reads like current fiction. Lots of twists and turns to keep you hooked. Would recommend to friends.

I won this book in a giveaway through Goodreads and the publisher, in return for my honest review.

I liked this book. I found it very interesting. It reminded me somewhat of Octavia Butler's book, Kindred, in the way it dealt with aspects of time travel. Diane Chamberlain is a wonderful writer, full of vivid detail and well fleshed out characters, and this book is no exception. I think she handled tricky aspects of the plot well. I don't want to give too much away, but the book is basically about the bonds between a mother and child, and the lengths a mother will go to save her child.

I couldn’t put this book down. I am so glad the cover didn’t give away the plot twists. I was pleasantly surprised and emotionally moved.

Time travelling? Sign me up.

This story is a trip. It is 1970, and we are introduced to Caroline Sears who finds herself both widowed and pregnant. Upon learning that her unborn baby girl has a heart defect Carly is devastated yet again. She lost her husband to the Vietnam war, now she has to contend with possibly losing her baby too.

Thankfully Carly has a support system with her sister Patti and her husband Hunter. Having met Hunter only a couple years prior, this physicist is smart, mysterious and thinks there is a way to help Carly’s baby girl. Turns out Carly thinks Hunter has lost his mind or is joking with her… but she is willing to almost do anything for her baby, if it means the possibility of saving her unborn child.

And that’s where I’ll leave it at that. I thought this story was fantastic, with all the mind-bending possibilities, all of the what ifs, and believing it IS possible. Suspending reality to enjoy this heartfelt drama is the way to go. I enjoyed all the layers and conflicting emotions. Paid off in the end.
