Domestic Percy! (Per)sassy digs at boomers! Deep and insightful commentary on getting older! We are back, babyyyyy~
After slogging through the Heroes of Olympus series, which was multiple-POV of characters of incredibly varying of levels of interesting, and what pretty much constantly gave me "battle fatigue," I really loved how this new premise of the book basically forced the author to add in breaks of cute, cozy domesticity in between action/adventure scenes. Domestic Percabeth!!!!! Love to see it.
The humor in the book is edgier and a tad more mature (or as edgy as Rick Riordan can possibly be), and the cultural references have been modernized significantly since the original series. But it definitely doesn't go too far off the deep end, which I think will help make this book age rather well in the years to come. I also really liked how there's a really important, universal, and timeless underlying message of youth, mortality, and old age as opposed to the book being just one big hero's journey for the sake of saving the world.
Loved this book, can't wait for the next one!

Percy Jackson - meri jaan ka tukra fr.
I have nothing to say and so much to say all at the same time. I could go on and on and ON for hours about how this story and character has been a constant in my life since the age of 12. It’s been more than 10 years since I read the first book and 10 years since I found that there’s solace in reading. At this point, I almost feel like Percy isn’t just a character to me he’s almost sentient

I love the Percy Jackson universe and will read anything in it, but I have to admit this one did feel a bit like filler.
Especially as I'd finished the Trials of Apollo this year and this book (and its upcoming sequels) takes place before that. So for me the timeline was slightly skewed
It's also very low stakes, which is fine, I don't want Percy to always be in mortal danger but I just don't feel like this book *needed* to be written. It was nice to see more of Percy & Annabeth just being happy and not in peril though.
Obviously I will still read the next book because I love this universe and Rick's writing, but yeah 😅
