I was really excited to dive into this book and it was nothing like I imagined. I feel like this book isn’t marketed or talked about with the huge trigger warning of suicide and depression that it needs. That came as a bad surprise considering what a large part of the book it was. I really was imagining something more whimsical.

I thought the story was really repetitive which was given to the structure of the story but I kinda predicted the whole thing (not a norm for me). Still, it was something I enjoyed listening to (I listened on audible for this one). The chapters were short (always a plus!) and the writing was well done. If they did another book in this series I would probably read it, but with more realistic expectations.

I couldn't put this book down. I was so immersed and came out of it thinking deeply about what we cherish in life. As a person with a history of self-harm/depression, seeing her choose life was truly inspiring.

Beautiful and hopeful. I didn't know what it was about going in. As someone who's struggled with depression for years, this book was very moving and encouraging.

Reading some of the other reviews- a common criticism seems to be this book is predictable, feel-good, corny. It is predictable I guess- you can easily imagine how it's going to end- but I think this book succeeded at what it set out to do. I wanted to hear it tell me reflections on the meaning of life and whether it's worth living, and it did that. Maybe those messages are obvious to some other people, but not to me. I appreciate this book a lot.

This book is beautful. This is the first Matt Haig book I’ve read and now I want to read more. I’m hooked on this tyoe of writing., The theme is profound and almost too big to wrap your mind around. I creid within the first few chapters - it really made me look inward at how I perceived my own life. Things happen to us - good and bad - it’s how we move through those moments that matter. My heart broke for Nora towards the end - love is so powerful. This book will forever be on my recommendation list and stick with me for a long time. I would LOVE to see this on screen.

I was so excited to read this book after hearing about it online and reading the description, but it was my first DNF in a long time.
Maybe I didn’t give it enough of a chance, but the message I was getting from it turned me away almost instantly.
This book gave the impression that suicide leads to a limbo in the afterlife where you get to redo your biggest regrets and create a better life for yourself to go back to. I just don’t think that’s the message the world needs right now, it’s romanticizing and glamorizing suicide.
Aside from that screaming message in the parts of the book I forced myself to read, it was overall just really empty of emotion and shallow. Maybe that was the point, maybe it wasn’t, but I can’t even say the terrible message was well-written.
I wish I had enjoyed it more, I’m disappointed.
