With This Heart is a very different book from Rachel's other ones. It's more serious and it's kind of a coming of age story.
It made me smile but also tear up which doesn't happen to me often.

Abby was a really cute and funny girl. She was very likeable and I truly cared for her. I think we would've been friends if we'd ever met.
I really liked her personality and the way she stepped out of her shell even though she was afraid. Abby was brave and kind and the more I read about her the more I liked her.

Beck was amazing. He was so kind, thoughtful, caring, funny and sweet. I loved how spontanious he was and how much he was helping Abby be herself.
He was also so hot like hello?! And his charisma was the most charming thing about him. He was just that type of guy everybody loves and wants to be around.

Beck and Abby were such a perfect match. Their banter was great, they were so in love and they fit together so well. I loved how easy they got along and I didn't mind the slight insta-love vibe at all.
I had so much fun reading about their road trip and their adventures. I don't read books like that often so it was great to experience some new sights and scenes.

This book also made me really sad at times. I felt like the good times and the bad times were well balanced but man did those bad times suck. First, Caroline. That made me so sad. But my heart really broke at the end when Abby had to let Beck go. I was tearing up. But then, we jumped one year and I was so excited to see how the story would end.
I absolutely adored Abby's poster idea and their reunion was the cutest thing ever. I really fell in love with Beck and Abby and I was happy with how their story ended. It was so cute and adorable but also heart-wrenching and emotional.

Overall I started out just liking the book but I really fell in love with it towards the end. It was emotional and beautiful, very funny and cute and I really enjoyed it.

This is the first book I've read of R.S. Grey's and I need to continue!
I was taken back by how sudden everything was, but I honestly loved how I didn't have to wait for anything.
The story was so well written and it kept me on my toes! These characters were amazing and I was completely in love with their witty conversations. This story just carried me to its ending and I definitely won't forget this.

This book was cute. I wouldn't say it was amazing, completely well written, with die hard incredible characters, but... It was cute.

I never actually felt anything for the characters, there just wasn't enough emotion in the writing I think. But the story was definitely cute, and I kept reading it which says something. But I don't think I'll be in a hurry to read the authors other books.

I have my favorite R.S. Grey books and I have the new ones I’ve been discovering this year as I finish her backlist, and it’s getting harder and harder to choose what I’d even consider to be my top 5. I’m so glad I waited to read this book, it was the exact book I needed at this time of my life, as I’m pushing through a book slump, and I love that RS Grey’s writing will always pull me out of one.

Beck is an amazing hero, he is hilarious and I love his personality. He is someone who goes along with what life brings, and he is the exact type of person Abby needs. Abby’s story was heartbreaking and beautiful, her friendship with Caroline made me cry so many times. I loved how Abby was so willing to ask for what she wanted with Beck, she was so full of confidence and honesty that I love her.

3.75* I think With This Heart is the definition of an emotional rollercoaster. I had high hopes as I'm a sucker for a road trip book but ended up starting this feeling extremely sceptical and admittedly pretty cynical. *Boy basically stalks girl into a funeral home, invites himself on her road trip, she agrees after talking to him once but he's cute so that's totally okay*. It would be hard for anyone not to feel slightly dubious when this all happens within the first few pages. It took a while for me to get over Abby and Beck's odd and pretty unrealistic meeting but once I did (and basically pushed it from my memory) I was totally hooked. There were so many elements to this story. Love, loss, friendship, family and heartbreak. Despite everything Abby had been through in her life, things that I haven't personally been through, at times, I found myself really able to relate to her. She was overwhelmed by the prospect of the future and wasn't entirely sure how to handle it, as a character she had a depth to her which I really enjoyed reading. (Her 'celebrity crush' was also Jim from The Office which I totally approve of.) Beck was gorgeous of course. I loved how he dealt with Abby's illness, he always tried to bring light to the situation but in a way that was sensitive and not over bearing or patronising. I warmed to him the moment I forgot how he met Abby (I still find that whole situation hard to believe and slightly creepy). :') Abby and Caroline's friendship was both heartwarming and heartbreaking, I adored it. This is definitely a book for older readers but despite my early scepticism I ended up really enjoying it.

Equal parts hilarious, sweet and sexy. I enjoyed this one, but not as much as others by this author.

I felt like I knew Abby so well over the course of this book, but Beck remained quite mysterious and I didn't feel like he was a real person. The story and roadtrip aspect were well done, and Abby's character development was great but Beck stagnated.

This book was also a fair bit more emotional and angsty than others I've read by ms. Grey, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Definitely a great read though!

I just couldn't find it in me to read the whole book. After getting through a couple chapters I skipped to chapter 28 or 29 and then read to the end.
Cant quite put my finger on why it couldn't engage mr, but maybe ut was because I just kept feeling like I was watching an accident waiting to happen. The ending was nice, so yay for that.

This is definitely a young adult novel transitioning into an NA. If you enjoyed The Fault in our Stars you might enjoy this as it covers similar themes. Any hard core TFioS fans would probably consider this less-profound than that of the YA King’s biggest novel to date but If you aren’t pretentious and can appreciate a book in its own right then you will love this as much as I did.

Grey never fails me in the female character department. Abby Mae is naive and yet brave, innocent yet has survived more than most. Her subtle, unassuming humour was delightful while her typical teenage temperament was realistic. She was just a really well-rounded character, very well written.

Beck on the other hand may be one of my new favourite book boyfriends!

He was slightly typical in the John Green style I meant above but there was still that sexy, roguishness to him that made him ‘physically’ attractive. Their witty banter together kept what could have been ‘yet another teen drama’ alive.

The Bad: I’m not one to be the fussed with realism so this isn’t really a complaint, I just didn’t get their first encounter. I understood the significance of the funeral home and how their awkward meeting shaped their relationship, it just didn’t seem like enough. I can’t explain it - you might get it if you’ve read it though.

The Good: I really loved the humour. Their banter was adorable and it was so nice to see them having a laugh even during the most heated/awkward sexual moments. That’s so natural for a couple and that’s what I enjoy most about these books. Some times outward crazy unrealistic drama is what you need, and sometimes an element that you can relate to is nice too. I also loved the storyline with poor, sweet Caroline. Does that make me morbid?

Overall: A really sweet, charming story. i’d recommend to any YA lovers who aren’t judgemental against novels that have a similar storyline to hugely popular novels of recent times. I loved this book in its own right and it was so enjoyable to read, I beamed almost the entire way through (not all the way though, because that would be morbid).
