I do love this series, its a good series. Funny with the quick wit.

I saw the fact she was going to find Jackal instead of Kanin, but if I'm honest I like Jackal he's actually my favourite, hes funny but exactly what a vampire should be!

Kanin, oh my god hes so cringey, I actually don't like him. Hes just a wimp, and a bit of a loser. Instead of doing something productive, he wimps about. Worst character for the 'strong' sire type I must admit.

4 Stars because Kanin ruins it.

Ahem. If you haven't read the first book, or this one, you may want to skip my review. No spoilers, but I am sure things will be mentioned that may be spoilerishy.
First off, I liked this book. Not as much as the first, obviously. What the fuck happened? Well, I'll tell you.
The book opens with Allie traveling around looking for Kanin (nom nom nom).
She tracks him through their blood ties and ends up hunting down Jackal unintentionally. Now, here is where I have an issue. I despised Jackal in the last book. He was an evil bastard. Well,
 photo chainsaw_zps2c476616.gif
This Jackal is arrogant, obnoxious, snarky as fuck, and I just wanted to eat him alive. YES.
So, on we go, Allie and Jackal traveling together down the yellow brick road and then the shit hits the proverbial fan, for me.
It is the return of Zeke. Seriously?
 photo ronswanson-interested2_zps006dcd3f.gif
Zeke still hasn't grown a set of balls, sadly. What follows is like a snowball of fuckery. Suddenly the book became this:

Allie: I am a monster. I can't be with Zeke.
Zeke: I have to tell you something Allie. I lo....but, I can't. I'll tell you later.
Allie: I am a monster. I can't be with Zeke. *kissy face*
Zeke: Allie, I have to tell you something I should have told you before. But, I'll tell you later.
Jackal: *snort*
Allie: I am a monster. I can't be with Zeke.
Jackal: *rolls eyes*
Allie: Shut up Jackal! I'm so hungry. I want to bite Zeke. NO!! What am I saying??? I am a monster.
Zeke: Allie? I have to tell you something.
Jackal: *kills them both*

I was ready to call in Kathy to take care of things.

I know what you're thinking. Why the 3 stars then? That's kind of generous since it seems you hated the book.
Well, no, I didn't hate the book at all. The plot was great, the writing I love. I just wish that the YA drama llama didn't make a spotlight appearance.
I will tell you this. If Jackal wasn't in the book, I probably would be rating it lower. He completely saved this book for me. He made me laugh, pissed me off, and totally sucked me in. Picturing him like Tom helped a bit too.
Cue in Tom gif.
 photo tom_zpse4d3e1b0.gif
(that was totally gratuitous but it's my review so....)
Ahhhhh, and Kanin. I love that man. Luckily, he is in the book a lot more than the first. YUM. If I had to pick between him and Jackal at this point, it would be a tough decision. Pffff. Fuck it, what am I saying? I'd take them both.
The ending? That ending.....
 photo palm_zpsfcbdee43.gif

Saw that ending coming from a million miles away. Now, I am going to give my predictions for book 3. I have to. If you don't want some possible spoiler things or thoughts, now you can stop reading. Here we go.

SpoilerI predict a love triangle. YES. It is so subtle in this book. So minuscule, that I may be wrong. But, I don't think I am. Kanin has something for Allie. So, cue in love triangle.
I think that Zeke will be tainted and evil because of what happened to him. It will end up being Allie doing the typical "save him" emotional shit.

Kanin will still be hot.
Jackal will still be hot.
The end.

I normally don't like books do movie adaptations, because actors can never look and act the way I have my babies in my head (also they mostly ruin it with horrible effects or just a bad script) BUT HOLY CRAP.

I WANNA SEE THIS MOVIE

This book starts somewhere right after the events of the first book. Allison is persistent to find Kanin by the blood bond they share. After some while, she links up with Jackal, her blood brother and Kanin's other creation. Lets just say, they don't exactly get along. Jackal is basically your stereotypical strong, leader, asshole type vampire. He ruled Chicago, the post-apocalyptic version anyways. This book opens with Allison fierce and cold-hearted, basically just killing anything that gets in her way, and I frankly LOVE her like that. It's so refreshing from the all-too popular innocent and weak protagonists that we get in books nowadays. It's pretty cool to go back to the original setting in The Immortal Rules, FYI the first book, where we got introduced to Allison and her band of misfits. The town is exactly as she remembered except for one thing, rabids are roaming the city more than ever and somethings up with the vamps. Also the fact that Kanin is being tortured and kept in captivity by Sarren, a psychotic and crazy vampire who has the weirdest obsession with birds. Yep. Crazy. Tweet Tweet.

Of course we meet back up with Zeke, who now fully accepts Allison for what she is, much to her relief. I LOVED THE FACT THAT THE ROMANCE WAS EVEN LESS THAN THE FIRST BOOK!! It's like Kagawa had heard my prayers. It was still evident but definitely not focused on at all! Of course with Zeke there he is re-introduced to Jackal and wants revenge for what happened to his people and most importantly, Jeb. Jackal being Jackal doesn't really give 2 shits which is pretty funny. I do love Jackal, as much as he is infuriating and an asshole, it's hard not to like him. Lets just give an example shall we:

“We’re both still here.”
He drew in a slow breath. “Allie…”
“Oh, don’t mind me,” came an extremely sarcastic voice near the wall. “You two go ahead and make out—I’ll just sit here and bleed quietly.”

And that's just one of his lines that cracks me up. Jackal is a pretty complex character beneath all that humour. He is not good nor bad, he does wish Allison accept herself fully and believes that humanities purpose was to be ruled by them, vampires.

Overall, this sequel was amazing and deserves all the praise it has gotten! The ending was a huge shock considering what happens and leaves us on a cliffhanger. Sarren definitely has some hell to pay and Allison is going to come collecting very soon with Kanin and Jackal by her side. Till next time, in the last and final book of the series, The Forever Song.

Julie, you can't freaking leave me hanging like this!
I'll go crazy without the next book! Damn!

You guys absolutely have to read this one!

It is even better than the first one, in my opinion, and even if you don't agree, well, the author is Julie freaking Kagawa, which means that the book is awesome anyway.

I have only 2 things to say about this book, giving that I am still stunned by the cliffhanger from hell:

1 - I loved this hardened, tougher, albeit still sweet and caring version of Zeke!
It was bloody great to see him all kickass and taking control of things. He is a great leader!
I absolutely cannot wait to know what truly happened with him!
I have this suspicion that
Spoiler Sarren turned him into a vampire, instead of killing him
, but if that is true then I don't know what are going to be the consequences. After all, Zeke didn't want that to happen to him.
Bloody hell! I need the next book now!

2 - Allison is an awesome heroine! She is so strong. She fights for what she thinks is the right thing, thus fighting a lot of people, including herself and her own "demonic" instincts, she never gives up, she doesn't allow herself to be reduced to a hysteric mess, even when everything seems lost and she does everything she can for everybody, even when they don't deserve it.
I hope she doesn't lose herself to the beast because of what happened with Sarren in the end of the book.

Allison Sekemoto is on a quest to save her creator, Kanin, who needs help. What she doesn’t expect is when her blood tie brings her to a blood brother and the town she thought she had left behind in her past to come crashing into her present. The boy she left, the monster who stabbed her and the Fringer whose life she saved – they all play a part in her attempt to save Kanin and the world from the new threat its facing and the slightly unhinged Sarren.

I enjoyed The Immortal Rules but The Eternity Cure has completely sold me on Julie Kagawa. I loved how she brought humanity to the monsters and showed how inhumane the humans can be. That’s not to say the vampires can’t be villainous. Allie is still struggling to deal with her new and eternal life with the pressures and cravings life as a vampire brings. She’s grown since the first book and continues to do so throughout this second instalment of the Blood of Eden series.

Relationships in this book were a strong point. There’s a romantic relationship is heartbreakingly bitter-sweet. I loved seeing how the mentor/mentee dynamic between Allie and Kanin has shifted as Allie grows more comfortable and confident with her place in the vampire world. And then there’s Jackal - he’s surprising in many ways. The humour and banter that Jackal provides is a highlight of this novel.

The Eternity Cure is fairly fast pasted – there is a lot that goes on in a short period of time but the pace is at a speed that feels right. It’s exciting and dramatic at times. The characters are fascinating – flawed but fantastic in their own ways. I loved the journey Julia Kagawa took me on. I am looking forward to the third book in the series and in the meantime I will definitely be reading Kagawa’s Iron Fey series!

LOVE this book, I don't want to read the third one because I don't want the serie to end.
