I've read this series twice. The first time was when I was a teen and caught up in the whole "Twilight" craze. This one fit in perfectly. Sure, it's about pixies and not vampires, but it had enough deviation and enough similarity to keep me hooked.
Endure is the find book in the series.
There is an impending apocalypse, and it all comes down to Zara, who is now an all-powerful pixie queen. After rescuing her boyfriend from Valhalla, things haven't been great between Zara and Nick. He still hasn't accepted that Zara turned pixie in order to save him, and that Astley is now Zara's king. But, to stop the apocalypse, everyone will have to put their differences aside and work together.
So, the reason why I re-read this series in the first place (other than nostalgia) is because I really couldn't remember how the series ended. You'd think that would be an important detail. I remembered quite a few details about the first book and a little bit about Astley, but not much else. Now, I understand why. The ending is vague... and ultimately dissatisfying. There is really no concrete ending to the series.
On the plus side, I assume that if you're reading this review, you've read at least one to three of the books in the series. So, it is likely that you are invested in the characters. In that way, you won't be disappointed. The story is action-packed and full of battle sequences.
I also really liked how the author slowly introduced elements of Norse mythology into the series little by little without it becoming overwhelming.
All in all, it wasn't the best conclusion to the series, but it also wasn't the worst. I would recommend reading this one if you've read the other three books in the series.

Sentences such as the following "It's warm in Florida, even at night." are what brought this book down. There was a lot of meaningless statements and stupidity.

I enjoyed this conclusion to the NEED series. Zara and Astley have gotten Nick back from Valhalla, but all is not well since Zara is still a pixie and Nick=not okay with pixies. Poor Zara. Also, there is mounting pressure from the coming pixie war, which the gang has to somehow figure out how to defend their little snowy town in Maine from, while Zara decides which of her guys she wants to be with. All in all, had lots of action and was a satisfying conclusion to the series.

Please excuse typos. Entered on screen reader.

This is honestly the first book I've read where the main character didn't end up with the first guy she met.

...And that's why I LOVED it.

You can tell by the end of the series that Nick and Zara are two completely different people then who they were when they first met. And if they had ended up together, I would've been extremely disappointed because they just don't fit together anymore. Astley, on the other hand, has grown with Zara and supports her no matter what or who she is. I loved that. Finally, some actual goddamn sense.

The only thing I didn't love was the whole Loki thing. I mean, really? REALLY? Loki, the all-powerful, all-cunning trickster, forgot he could shapeshift for eons and it takes a human girl reminding him of that for him to remember? I can extend my disbelief pretty far, but even that I had to read several times before I was like screw it, moving on.

Other than that, loved it. Beautiful ending to an otherwise flawed series.

“Sometimes the monsters are not monsters...and sometimes the monsters are within us all, even in those we think are most good.”

Well it's finally over. After reading the first three books back in 2011 and having to wait an eternity and a half for this to come out, it's finally over. This was one of my less anticipated books to read and I honestly didn't care if I didn't finish it but I pushed myself. In the end it meet my expectations which honestly were pretty darn low. It's really more like a 2.5

This book takes place a few weeks after the third book, [b:Entice|8069535|Entice (Need, #3)|Carrie Jones|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1305547585s/8069535.jpg|12769820], ends. Now, since I read this like 2 years ago I was a bit lost. I usually remember things in books fairly well but hey it was two years and a story that I don't really like. So yeah.

This is pretty much what happened in the book:
Nick is a jerk
Astley is awesome
Bad guys hurt Astley
Zara to the rescue
They go find bad guys
Look things up on the internet
(Repeat those steps like five or four times)
Free Loki

That's about it

Now what pissed me off was the internet thing. EVERYTHING they got was from the internet. EVERYTHING!!!! Like I get that there is some real crazy crap out there but seriously? "Where is the gate to Hel?" ...LET'S LOOK ON LINE! "How do not free Loki" ...I KNOW LET'S GOOGLE IT! "How do we save the world?"... I'LL GO GET MY LAPTOP!!

It's like Ms. Jones had run out of ideas and decided to take the easy road and just throw in the word internet a couple times. Though I admit I'd rather that than have the characters sounding stupid with random facts. Though honestly they sounded stupid enough. They were all like:
internet

All while I was like:

Seriously the only one making sense was Isla, the supposed crazy person, she was the only one who saw how dumb they were.

"The internet? You base your defense against the apocalypse on information you've gathered from the internet...?"

It kept reminding me of that StateFarm commercial with the "French model" you know the one I'm taking about.

In the end I'm glad it's over. It was OK, not the worst book I've read but not the best. I was never really a fan of the series but continued with it because I always continue a series unless it's so bad I want to die *cough* [b:Evermore|3975774|Evermore (The Immortals, #1)|Alyson Noel|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1362336360s/3975774.jpg|4021549] *cough*. I found the characters really stupid, not personality wise but actually lacking inteligence and there is nothing I hate more than that. Still, I'm glad for the closure but pissed it took so long to get here.

P.S.

Sorry for all the Loki it's just that he is kind of important in this book and when he finally showed up I kept seeing the Loki from Thor and the Avengers. It was really hard to imagine him being kind when all I saw was this :

And a little of this:

LOVE YOU LOKI!!

Wellll, for me, the first 2 books were kind of bad. Like the idea was there but it just lacked something. And then the author involved Norse mythology to explain some stuff but... I think she should have chosen another folklore background. Because it didn't make sense. In my head at least. And I had the feeling that the story sidetracked in the second book. For the third and fourth books, the story was just nice. I wasn't even emotionally attached, so I actually didn't care. (UNLESS SOMETHING HAPPENED TO ASTLEY)
I think the idea of pixies should have been explored differently. They seemed an interesting Fae creature.
About the characters, my all time favourite was Astley; and Cassidy comes next. Zara annoyed me sometimes and I couldn't give a shit about Nick. (In so many parts, I was like, 'what were you expecting Zara? Are you stupid?')
And there was a love triangle but at least it was well executed; we could see that one of the relationships wasn't meant to be.

Endure is the last and final book in the Need Series by Carrie Jones and let me tell you it's been a blast reading this series. The plot and characters were done so well throughout the entire series with tons of twists and turns and compelling characters that made it worthwhile for the time I invested into reading the series. Okay now on to the actual book and the review.

Nick has been brought back from Valhalla thanks to Zara, and instead of being grateful the guy is acting like a complete jerk towards her. Meanwhile Zara is developing deeper feelings for Astley which I was all for it. Also Zara and her friends are still trying to stop the apocalypse from happening and this brings on quite a few adventures and hardships for the characters especially Zara who is the key to whether the apocalypse will happen or not happen.

I applaud the growth Zara's character has gone through in the series. She was willing to put all her personal life issues aside and concentrate on trying to save the world. She steps up and becomes a true leader in Endure. And she isn't the only character who I saw growth in, pretty much all of them had grown in their own ways. The only one that got on my nerves was Nick he was such a brat.

As far as the romance goes I was very happy with who Zara ended up with. She couldn't have picked a better guy.

I was very satisfied with the wrap up of the series. Endure was fast paced without a dull moment in sight and if you haven't read the series go pick it up, every book was an incredibly fast read for me.
