This 4th book in the series finishes the story arc begun in book 1. And what a finish it is! The book was a full of suspense and I couldn't put it down.

I enjoyed quite a few things about this book . I loved the fact that everyone from the previous books got together in this last one. And I enjoyed reading about Lou again. She's always fun! Also, I appreciated Katie Ruggle's experience and accuracy when writing about the sheriff's department, "Fire," and "Med."

The romance wasn't real strong--that honor goes to book one. But I liked Chris and loved the way he was always there for Daisy. I was glad when they FINALLY got together, late in the book.

The ending was appropriate for the series.

I highly recommend this series. Katie Ruggle writes suspenseful stories and knows what she's talking about. I hope to see more from her.

ARC provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Satisfying

Daisy is a recluse, an agoraphobe. She hasn’t left the house since she witnessed her mother’s murder at age 16 and she only has two people in her life: her father, and Chris, a deputy that shot the man who murdered her mother. Daisy and Chris developed a strong friendship over the years and he visits her every day. She has fallen for him but he recoils from her every touch recently - ever since she tried to kiss him.

One night Daisy witnesses a man, dressed all in black, dump what looks like a body wrapped in tarp into the boot of a deputy squad car from the vacant house across the street. She videos it and shows Chris the next day who then reports it to the sheriff, Rob.

With all the following events that Daisy witnesses and/or happen to her, Rob seems intent on debunking her as a credible witness. On insinuating that she’s crazy because she has mental health issues about leaving the house. On blowing off investigating anything she reports or “accidentally” ruining evidence.

At this point it’s safe to say that we as the readers heavily suspect Rob and/or his son Tyler as the murderer and arsonist. But are they? Or has the author just worded everything very cleverly so as not to give you the full story but have you chasing a red herring? (Is that even a phrase?)

Side notes:

I love the friendships Daisy forms with the other girls - Lou, Ellie, and Rory. Their murder board meetings and workout nights are funny as they all bring a different dynamic to the table. As do the men in their lives.

And the sexual tension between Daisy and Chris is potent! Phew!

I jumped into the middle of the series with this book. I will say though, I hate when a series with an ongoing group of characters heavily relies on the events of previous books to move the plot line. It’s so boring to be given mini summaries of a secondary couple’s romance rather than allowing love for them to build anew. Nevertheless, this was a pretty quick read for me - I wanted the FMC to grow out of the cage she’d built herself and championed her along the way. I thought the MMC was a little bit of a dud, and the antagonists a bit too villainy.

Excellent conclusion to this mystery series. I was curious how a book about an agoraphobic lady would be interesting, but Ruggle did an excellent job with keeping the storyline going.
I liked seeing all the couples get together in this book!

I received a complimentary copy from Sourcebooks Casablanca & Netgalley for review.

With my meh view on Gone too Deep and the shocking reveal at the end of it, I wasn't looking for much in this one, although I needed to know the ending.
Let's just say, I truly enjoyed it.

Daisy is such an unusual character. She's extremely agoraphobic after a tragedy in her part. She's normal for all that. Chris has been her friend for 8 years. He's been training her in her home gym. After she sees something suspicious, in comes Lou and her whiteboard and all the couples of the previous books.the get together to workout and brainstorm about the arson and the headless dead guy.

It played out slowly. It's kind of freaky in a way to know who the killer is and see how he's managed to fool a whole community about his good character.
