When Rochelle signs up for a dating show so she can raise some money for her domestic violence charity, the last person she expects to see is her ex-boyfriend and love of her life Grant Drake. Grant has been chosen to be the bachelor and Rochelle is supposed to be competing to win his love. 10 years ago Grant broke Rochelle's heart so she will do anything to get herself kicked off the show. All the antics Rochelle comes up with, just show Grant that Rochelle is still the girl he fell in love with years ago.

This was such a fun and light story. There were quite a few laugh out loud moments. I really enjoyed this one and look forward to reading more by this author in the future!

Full Disclosure: I received a copy of this book from Netgalley, as part of the Tasty Book Tours blog tour, in exchange for an honest review.

My Thoughts: How to Lose a Bachelor definitely fed into my recent obsession with all thing contemporary. I don’t know if it’s a phase or if I’m just now discovering a new favorite genre, but I’m okay with riding this particular wave.

How to Lose a Bachelor kind of reminded me of Playing Games because of the reality show aspect. It was a very quick, fun read (it only took me a few hours to read). It had quite a few moments that weren’t believable, but that was actually some of the fun of reading it, for me at least. I don’t always like my contemporary romances based in reality.

Rochelle’s antics to get kicked off of the show left me with a range of emotions. Sometimes I found her to be hilarious, other moments had me cringing and wondering what the heck she was thinking. I highly doubt any real self-respecting attorney would get drunk on national TV. I’m pretty sure that puts you on the short track to getting fired.

It took awhile for me to warm up to Grant. For the first few chapters, I thought he was pretty boring. Then he made a few comments (in his head) about some of the other contestants and I was thinking he was a jerk/pig. I ended up liking him, but not for any specific reason. He just kind of grows on you.

Grant and Rochelle start How to Lose a Bachelor on the hate side of that fine line between love and hate. They both have what they consider to be good reasons for feeling that way. I may have rolled my eyes. It kills me when the biggest problem standing in a couple’s way is communication. I realize this is a legitimate real life problem too, but the entirety of Rochelle and Grant’s mutual heartbreak could’ve been avoided if they’d both been honest. I realize that’s easier to say than to do, but supposedly you’re grownups.

I did enjoy reading How to Lose a Bachelor. It was the perfect contemporary romance, but it has it’s funny moments. Even though I had my criticisms, I would definitely recommend How to Lose a Bachelor to anyone looking for a humorous contemporary romance.

Huh, all right. I like The Bachelor, and this was basically Bachelor fan fiction. This book didn't really do it for me though. It was just too predictable.

It was a little too happy and roses all throughout. There was a lot of manufactured drama, but it was very evident what was going to happen.

The characters weren't all that well-developed. The sweet, romantic moments were few and far between. While there wasn't insta-love, there did seem to be an insta-change of heart. Some people's motives changed a little to quickly! Others, I didn't understand their motives at all.

Overall, this book was a little mundane. Unfortunately, I was not very impressed.

I think this is the most fun I have had in a while. Reading about unpredictable Rochelle was quite entertaining. She doesn't hold back and no one messes with her. Right now she is determined to get her revenge, her ex-boyfriend is going to regret the day he decided to do the reality show that brought them back together. Although things are not easy for her either because apparently Grant is not letting her get away so easily this time...

When Grant finds Rochelle there is only one thing on his mind and thing is not reconnecting with her in any way. He cannot go through with all the drama and heartbreak once more but what he doesn't realise is that Rochelle is thinking on the same lines. Dealing with her and keeping up appearances for the audience's sake will not be easy for him at all. But you know what they say... love conquers all.

The story is quite enjoyable. There are many funny moments and some quite romantic not to mention some very embarrassing encounters. One thing is for sure this book will keep you entertained from the very beginning until the end...

This is such a fun book! I'm a huge fan of reality dating shows like The Bachelor, and I love books, so I was super excited to have those two things rolled into one exciting story, and Anna Banks has written an absolutely joyful novel. It is said that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and boy, does Rochelle ever feel scorned. I loved all of her crazy attempts to thwart the show's intentions and get sent home, and laughed out loud at the lengths she goes to to be unattainable. But, love is difficult to deny, and Grant is a man in love. Watching he and Rochelle battle it out is pure fun, and the moment they realize there's still love between them is exhilarating.

This book is all sorts of cute, and it's a sweet, clean romance that will appeal to all kinds of romance readers. There's tons of amazing chemistry between Grant and Rochelle that absolutely leaps right off the page. I loved reading about all of the crazy dates and activities the show required, and the author does an excellent job of showing all of the conflict and emotion that goes along with falling in love when you're on display for all of America to see.

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention how much I loved Maya as a secondary character, and now I'm totally wanting a spinoff book that gives her her own happily ever after! (Pretty, please, Anna?!?)

If you like fun, flirty romance, swoon-worthy moments, and plenty of drama, you'll love HOW TO LOSE A BACHELOR!

**2018 Reread: I decided to reread this on a whim. I just remembered it being a really quick and fun read and I wanted to let myself indulge in that for a couple days. It really is a super fast read and the plot just helps it to fly by. Anna Banks does an awesome job at creating characters that I'll root for and super hot love interests that I want to ship. The narration of this was also a lot of fun. Rochelle has so much anger and Grant really is trying hard to reconcile their relationship. I can easily compare this to a lot of other YA books out there (The Selection) but it didn't even matter. I was invested and enjoyed myself the whole way through.

**2016 - Original review:
I actually whizzed through this in less than a day. That was seriously a whirlwind of emotions. I knew going into this that it would be a quirky, funny romance, because it is Anna Banks, and I can expect nothing less from her. Often high expectations aren't fulfilled but How to Lose a Bachelor fulfilled all of them and gave so much more.
I immediately fell in love with the characters and their backstory and it made the story go by so quickly. Usually, I don't feel very attached to characters from standalone books, but man, this was so different. I got mad with these characters, I got mad at other characters, I felt their joy and all the heartbreak. They felt so relatable and I loved it.
At first, I kept comparing this book to the selection because they both have the basic idea of a man choosing a girl to be his wife. The Selection is way more traditional though and that is mainly because it was a prince, and you know, there aren't any rebels attacking the girls on the show in How to Lose a Bachelor. It just felt way more modern simply because it was a dating show.
I really liked the way that the book ended though. Things were not looking good, and Anna Banks wrapped everything up in a way that didn't make it feel rushed. Also, I feel like this book did not need an epilogue, but it did and I ended up loving it. Honestly, I was crying by the end of because it was literally the cutest thing ever. I was thinking in my head that I need an epilogue like that for every single one of my OTP's. Very cute and fast read that I definitely recommend.

3.5 Stars:

So this was a bit of a departure for me as far as what I have read from Anna Banks before and I think possibly her first foray into Contemporary Romance, although her YA's have always revolved around a romance so that in and of it's self is nothing new to her.

Rochelle Ransom, a hard working, up and coming attorney, a tireless and dedicated volunteer to her local shelter and battered women's care has come to the realization that she can't give 'her' shelter what it needs, more funding. In a last ditch effort to raise money and with the encouragement of some adventurous friends she finds herself as a contestant on Luring Love. Rochelle is prepared to be whoever she needs to be and do what ever she needs to do to win the bachelor's love and more importantly the grand-prize money....that is until the bachelor is introduced to Luring Love's contestants and she discovers the grand-prize isn't just a random guy and some money, instead it's HER guy....or her once upon a time guy!

I have to admit that I am not a fan of dating shows and have never actually watched one of them so reading this was a bit interesting for me. Do people actually act like this on these shows? It did not make me eager to tune in to The Bachelor any time soon. That being said this is a fun little book. It only comes in at 198 pages so it is a quick read with a nice amount of what some refer to as 'Clean Romance', a genuine emotional tale and some wonderful characters. I throughly enjoyed Rochelle and Grants back story and their back and forth, but I was quite taken with secondary character, Maya...and I like that the end of the story left open the chance for us to see more of Maya in a future book.

I loved that Grant never wavered from his 'want' of Rochelle once he knew that rekindling their romance could be an option, even with all the temptation of the other competitors and the way he went about thwarting any advances had me smiling and cheering him on in his dedication. Rochelle, I could have kicked her butt a time or two. Her jump to conclusions style grated on my nerves a bit...I think that is why Maya was such a star for me...she felt more real than Rochelle did a time or two. I wouldn't have ever wanted Maya and Grant together, it is clear they aren't meant for one another, but I found her extremely easy to connect to when I struggled with Rochelle's believability.

Even with that, I enjoyed this book, like I mentioned earlier it is a fun quick read. I you are looking for a light romance that will make you smile and swoon a bit then this is a great book to pick up. I am looking forward to more in this genre from Anna Banks and hope you will give How To Lose a Bachelor a try.
