A perfect representation of a toxic relationship, zero accountability for men, emotional manipulation and gaslighting. This series suffers from being a product of it's time. Even if you can give it grace on that front, this book inparticular is terrible and did not age well. I didn't get to read this far into the series when I was younger and I am glad I didn't. This book's theme of Stand By Your Man No Matter What, would have been an atrocious life lesson to carry onto my early adult life.

I am ninety-nine-point-nine per cent sure this book's existence is down to Rachel Caine latching on to the pun of the title, and not the story inspiring the pun. This is the first time that Caine experiments with an alternate perspective from Claire's, but unfortunately she chooses Shane as her subject. I like Shane as a character; his personal growth has been one of the most satisfying things in this series—which is why its so disappointing to get a Shane that reads like he's simply forgotten about the six books of character development that have happened since Midnight Ally. I can't justify this books existence in any way and its just incredibly disappointing as a fan of the series.

WOOOOOOOWWW!!!! This book was amaaazzing!!! The ending was soo unexpected!
SpoilerI thought Kim had run away, but nooo she traps Myrnin and shoots him!! And I thought the part when Myrnin shot Bishop was cool, especially when Claire described it as like glitter. When Shane snapped out of it and then was like 'I'm sooo sorry!' awww it was so cuuute, and when at the veery end their all like 'I need you. No, I need you'
OMYGOODNESS!!!! I loved iiitttt!!!! If you haven't read the series yet, you totally should.

Vampire fight club was not it for me.

I also really hated the dual povs. Hope that was a one time thing. Shane has never had an interesting thought in his life.

Only gets 2 stars because Myrnin slayed.

Spoiler I am eternally grateful that Bishop is now dead so he can stop coming back as the bad guy!

I hated the different point of views.... It was annoying and useless. If the writer is bored with writing a series she should stop writing it...

Rachel Caine continues her Morganville Vampires series just a short time after GHOST TOWN. As usual Rachel brings action, tension and a great storyline that keeps you reading. Some old characters find there way back into the Morganville population to cause havoc. Claire as usual deals with it all with her head held high and her friends by her side, She really has grown and come to accept her place in Morganville. I must say I'm kinda getting angry with Shane, it seems like he is always messing up lately. Granted it isn't always his fault but he seems to put himself in situations that make him hurt his friends and I hope it ends soon. All the characters continue to grow and when you think you know everything about someone, some new information is revealed. BITE CLUB does jump from two different point of views, Claire and Shane. I'm not really a fan of the jumping back and forth but Rachel does a good job with it so it isn't confusing and it is nice to see what Shane is thinking while he is doing stupid things. Since BITE CLUB tied up a loose end I'm interested to see where Rachel will take her characters and the town from here. If you have enjoyed the Morganville books in the past, I would recommend you continue to read them.

This one just didn't work as well, in terms of both character development and plot. The narrative was broken by the repeated switch over to Shane's first person viewpoint, which did not seem as true a voice as Claire's. I don't remember any mention of Eve fencing before, so that increased the feeling some elements were just thrown in to make the plot work. Amelie, despite voiced annoyance, continued to allow Claire to do fairly much whatever she wanted. Michael seemed very easy about everything Shane did and said, not getting riled or overly worried at all (despite going out to talk to him later). Myrnin seemed to be the only character remaining true to himself.

I have been completely OBSESSED with The Morganville Vampires. But this book made me sad. Don't get me wrong, I still love the books, but this has to be my least favorite. I think my problem was the fact that I do t enjoy a book as much of there is no romantic interest and this one had none. With (spoiler be warned) Shane doped up on vampire blood and acting all weird I didn't get all those hot Claire and Shane moments we usually get. It made me sad :'(. I stilled liked the book though. I was just missing out on one of my favorite fictional couples.

Reliably fun and fast-paced as ever, but I have felt the last few entries aren't really venturing into new territory as much as I would like. Still, it's hard not to love Rachel Caine!
