Listen, this was if nothing else: fresh. While the plot is very cliched and some of it was predictable, what I did enjoy was the author's unique choice of narrator and her interactions with the antagonist. Fans of dark academia and crime podcasts will love this one. I was hooked from the start and ended up breezing through it in one sitting.

This book primarily takes place at a prestigious college in New England, where 6 students meet at freshman orientation and become friends. The story follows Malin, Ruby, and Gemma - the females - and John, Max, and Khaled - the males.
It also has a back story about Malin, who has a brother, Liam, that died in front of her when she was 8 years old. Malin tries to keep her past private, and also keeps her feelings to herself.
The story follows the 6 as their friendship solidifies over classes, parties, and relationships over the 4 years, culminating in Senior Day. Senior Day is a day of traditions for the senior class. Sadly, one of the seniors dies on Senior Day, and the life on campus is not the same.
Malin's story is shrouded in secrecy, until it all breaks open at the end.
This is a poignant story of caring too deeply, hiding tendencies and feelings, and secrecy around mental illness.
I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to more from this author. It was a quick and engrossing read. I am struggling with how I feel about the ending of the book - and it will make me think about it for a while.

Wow. This book definitely kept me guessing all along, and I was wrong. This book reminded me of Donna Tartt’s Secret History. The pacing is excellent. I will definitely read this author again...this freshman effort was incredible. 4.5/5 stars

Quick read—very creepy and keeps you guessing! Not that best writing but certainly kept me engaged.

I picked this book up because a blogger (lol) hyped it up and I'd read that Netflix bought the rights and is turning it into a movie. Lately I've tried to stay away from these twisty thrillery type books because almost all of them get compared to Gone Girl and almost none of them are ever worth it.

Anyway. Tell Me Everything is kind of confusing and misleading. The blurb mentions a murder (!) that tears apart (!!) a group of friends (!!!) in college (!!!!) but that doesn't really happen? The murder takes place in the last ~20 pages of the book and has absolutely no impact on the main plot, which follows Malin (the main character) and her group of friends during their freshman and senior years of college. Malin's damage is easy to guess but also not revealed until the last third-ish of the book, so ultimately pretty unsatisfying. The final chapter felt incredibly clunky and expository, like the author went, "oh shit, now I need to explain everything but I only have 7 pages left!" I'm rarely happy with the endings of books, but this one really left me confused.

ALL OF THAT SAID, I really enjoyed this book! I read it pretty quickly because I really loved the mood and the college memories it brought back for me.

I thought the first half was a little slow but I enjoyed the end.

so, here’s the thing. this book has major character depth and there’s a full plot, both things i love. the story is fast paced, too. what i didn’t love was all the hopping around in time - there’s someone’s childhood circa the mid-90’s, freshman year of college, and senior year of college. the story from each angle is good, but i think it would’ve flowed better to have the story told in time order. fast read, so would recommend for that reason!

Finally, a truly surprising ending

I've read so many psychological thrillers that jump back and forth in time, slowly unfolding. This one is truly unique. I actually exclaimed "Holy shit" at one point near the end. Really enjoyed it.

Overall I liked it. It took an extremely long time to get to the point, and the super important murder from the blurb was basically not even important, and doesn't really matter. I dunno. It was a fast, easy read though.
